2028 Rankings: A Look at the Next Wave of Talent

With the ranking cycle coming to a close, it’s time to dive into the next crop of baseball prospects. At Prep Baseball, we don’t start ranking players until they set foot on their high school campuses. Over the coming years, this class will evolve into pro prospects, high-end Division I players, NAIA talents, JUCO standouts, and beyond. Watching the evolution of each class is always exciting. At the top of the 2028 class, we find two standout position players poised to make an impact for years to come: Anthony Huaranga and Connor Bresler.

1 - 3B Anthony Huaranga (St. Peter’s Prep)
Physical, brute strength.
At the Fall Top Prospect Games, Huaranga showcased his power potential, peaking with a 91.6 mph exit velocity and a max distance of 338 feet. He demonstrated an ability to pull the ball with authority, projecting well as a corner infielder.

2 - OF Connor Bresler (Delbarton)
Athlete is the best way to describe Bresler.
At the Last Chance Open, Bresler impressed with a 6.93 60-yard dash, 81 mph throws from the outfield, and a max exit velocity of 95.2 mph. He features a short, compact stroke with the ability to hit consistent line drives, making him a dynamic presence in the lineup.

3 - RHP Owen Ehrenkranz (Gill St. Bernard’s)
Loose, easy thrower with projection.
Ehrenkranz features a fastball sitting at 82-83 mph, complemented by a slider at 69-72 mph and a splitter at 71-72 mph. Standing at 6’2” and 175 pounds, his frame suggests significant potential for growth.

4 - RHP James Fenton (Metuchen)
Lanky with a loose arm.
Fenton’s fastball reaches 82-85 mph, topping out at 86. His long levers create impressive extension, and his arsenal includes a breaking ball at 64-68 mph and a changeup at 73-76 mph.

5 - RHP Parker Klug (Delbarton)
Strong, physical presence.
Standing at 6’3” and 215 pounds, Klug’s fastball sits in the low 80s. Offensively, he boasts a 91 mph exit velocity, highlighting his two-way potential and power traits.

6 - C Eddie Mitchell (Lenape)
Advanced moves for his age.
A member of the Junior Futures Team, Mitchell excels as a backstop with catch-and-throw skills. At the plate, he employs a tall base and aggressive forward move, demonstrating an ability to turn the barrel effectively.

7 - RHP Jaden Freeze (Northern Burlington)
Athletic with projection.
Freeze is a wiry athlete with mid-80s fastball velocity and two-way potential. His athletic build hints at further development as he matures.

8 - RHP David Rojas (Don Bosco Prep)

9 - 3B Owen Rivenbark (Immaculata)
Physical with long levers.
Rivenbark consistently gets his bat into a strong hitting position, staying behind the ball and turning the barrel with authority. His current peak exit velocity is 91 mph, indicating future power potential.

10 - SS Jackson Soos (Wall)
Immediate impact potential.
At the Fall Top Prospect Games, Soos’ bat exploded with a peak exit velocity of 95 mph. His hitting ability positions him as a key contributor for Wall High School.
