PBR Nevada will be covering multiple games a week, bringing to you: game recaps, player spotlights, and updated power rankings.

GAME RECAP

SIERRA VISTA (7) - LEGACY (5)

In what could be a preview of the 4A State Championship game, both Sierra Vista and Legacy had each of their #1’s going in Uncommitted 2023 OF/RHP, James Starkus, and Shoreline Recruit, Antwon Carruthers, respectively. Though this was set up to be a pitchers dual, the bats came alive early for the Mountain Lions, putting up runs in each of the first four innings behind the bat of Starkus, who helped out his own cause with a 2 for 3 day, bringing in three runs with his standup triple in the first and a clutch double to left field that give Sierra Vista the lead back after a four run Legacy fourth, earning him Player of the Game honors. The Longhorns’ leadoff hitting shortstop has been an intriguing follow this Spring with a quality approach at that helped him rack up a pair of hits, two RBI’s and scoring once while showing easy, confident actions at short with flashes of lateral range though has arm may move him over to second base at the next level. Legacy’s De’Jon Mitchell, a Shoreline CC Recruit, also added a pair of hits including a leadoff double to right field to spark the four run fourth for Legacy. Sierra Vista shortstop and fellow Shoreline CC Recruit, Ariel Rodriguez, has quietly had himself a big year on both sides of the ball, hitting .419 before adding two hits in yesterday’s contest while holding down the shortstop position with fluid action and active footwork that allows him to position himself to work through each ball with confidence.
