GAME RECAP

LIBERTY (9) - LAS VEGAS (1)

Wednesday’s matchup featured two teams off to slower starts than anyone anticipate with both teams looking to right the ship. The Patriots took no time at all to get things started with a loud four run bottom of the firsts with Brown recruit, Logan Meusy, UNLV signee, Brett Matson, Uncommitted 2023, Lauren Binney, Uncommitted 2024, Konner Brown, and Uncommitted 2022, Phillip Shamburger, all registering hits in the inning. The bottom of the second saw more of the same as 2022 IF/RHP and CSN signee, Keoni Young, and 2023 IF and Cal State Bakersfield commit, Jonah Shields, rack up back to back triples helping add two more runs to go up 6-0 after 2 complete. The Wildcats answered in the top of the third with an RBI single from C, Johnny Herrera, scoring 2022 IF, Isaac Moreno, who walked earlier in the inning, now bringing it to 6-1 heading into the bottom of the third. Liberty continued their offensive performance as they worked the bases loaded then both Matson and Young got plunked to bring in two more, extended the lead to 8-1 after 3 complete. The Patriots were able to add one more in the bottom of the 4th on another Shamburger single as freshman LHP and a key piece of the #TeamNevada run to the Final 4 at last year’s 2021 Jr. Future Games, Nicholas Blakeney, came in to throw a scoreless 6th and 7th, striking out two along with way and securing the 9-1 victory for Liberty.
