Nevada ProCase Preview: Chris Cortez

Brett Harrison
Nevada Scouting Director

Silverado product, Chris Cortez, slides right into a long line of Skyhawks that have draft aspirations heading into their senior year. The Arizona commit has cemented himself as one of the best arms in state with a fastball that sits in the low to mid 90’s while running it up to 96 mph. He has a developing breaking ball with 11/5 shape that has shown signs of being a potential plus pitch. Consistency being able to locate is one of the very few knocks on Cortez as he relies heavily on athleticism at this point with his delivery and with some polish to make a few minor tweaks could make his motion that much more repeatable, in turn allowing him to live in the zone on a regular basis. This is a prospect who has quickly become one of the main attractions at the upcoming PBR Nevada ProCase with amount of upside that he possesses and could make his way up the PBR Player Rankings if he continues to perform as has been in recent weeks.
