Nevada ProCase Preview: Hunter Katschke

Brett Harrison
Nevada Scouting Director

Hunter Katschke might be the most under the radar in the 2021 class but with his present tools that feature a 91 mph fastball and an ability to drive the ball with authority to both gaps evident by his 95 mph Raw Exit Velocity, he stacks up among the top players Nevada has to offer. Coming out of a Basic Academy program that has is known for producing "baseball players" with high baseball IQ and a gritty style of play, the UNLV commit fits that mold. Defensively, Katschke has the confidence and athleticism to hold down a corner outfield spot at the next level with an upper 80's Outfield Velocity. At the plate, he oozes confidence with a gap to gap approach that has shown present power while producing quality at bat after quality at bat throughout the preseason last Fall and Winter. On the mound his competitiveness shines through while featuring a fastball that has been up to a PBR Verified 91 mph and is complimented by a sharp 11/5 breaking ball that works well off his fastball plane. Keep an eye out for Katschke as we head into the first ever PBR Nevada ProCase.
