Northern Nevada Open | Blast Motion Leaderboard

Brett Harrison
Nevada Scouting Director

The Northern Nevada Open is in the books and now we move into the post event coverage, breaking down and highlighting the standouts from the event with Quick Hits, Stat Leaderboards, Blast Motion Leaderboards and Pitching Leaderboards. The immediate takeaway from this past weekends event was impressive overall offensive performance that saw a number of balls leave the yard with multiple 100 mph Exit Velocities and mature, line drive filled rounds coming from players in each high school class.

At the Northern Nevada Open, we retrieved a significant amount of data on each player including: 60 Times measured by Swift Syncro, Batting Practice measured by TrackMan, Catch Pop Time and Velocity, Outfield Evaluation and Velocity, Infield Evaluation and Velocity and Pitcher Bullpens analyzed and assessed by TrackMan. We pride ourselves on utilizing the latest technology in the game to provide the most accurate data for both the player and those recruiting/evaluating the player.

Next, we highlight some of the top in swing metrics from the Northern Nevada Open with the Blast Motion Leaderboards.

Northern Nevada open: BLAST MOTION LEADERS

About Blast Motion:

The Blast Motion sensors measure Swing and Impact Metrics across several categories. Swing metrics measure pre-impact mechanics centered around plane, connection, and rotation while Impact metrics measure pre-impact performance outcomes based on ball contact.

HERE ARE THE TOP METRICS OF THE EVENT:

Top Peak Bat Speed: 86.1 mph | Michael Dietz - Damonte Ranch, 2023

Top Average Bat Speed: 76.2 mph | Michael Dietz - Damonte Ranch, 2023

Top Peak Hand Speed: 25.8 mph | Christian Obos - Spanish Springs, 2023

Top Average Hand Speed: 24.3 mph | Christian Obos - Spanish Springs, 2023

On-Plane Efficiency: 89% | Jayden Peters - Reed, 2026

Rotational Acceleration: 18.9 g | Michael Dietz - Damonte Ranch, 2023

Below will you find the swing & impact metrics from the event in four different categories (Top-10 listed):

PEAK HAND SPEED

Peak Hand Speed is the observed maximum speed as measured on the handle of the bat (measured six inches from the knob of the bat). Peak Hand Speed will occur prior to the moment of impact, very close to the commit time in the swing when the wrists unhinge. For more info: Peak Hand Speed

ON PLANE EFFICIENCY

Measures the percentage of your swing where the bat is on the swing plane. Your vertical bat angle at contact establishes the plane for that swing. Plane is a great indicator for making more consistent contact on the barrel of the bat. For more info: On Plane Efficiency

Ideal Efficiency %: 70% or Higher    Range: 65%-85%

Rank Name State School Class Pos On Plane Eff (avg)
1 Jayden Peters NV Edward C. Reed 2026 LHP 89 %
2 Tai Chang NV Reed 2025 OF 86 %

9 Landon Wilkins NV North Valleys 2023 RHP 73 %
10 Bradley Stoner NV Reed 2024 OF 73 %

ROTATIONAL ACCELERATION

Measures how quickly your bat accelerates into the swing plane. Rotation is a good indicator of how you build bat speed by sequencing properly. The quicker your rotational acceleration, the more power you will have and the more time you have to adjust to pitch locations. For more info: Rotational Acceleration
