DIRECTOR NOTES

DESERT OASIS (7) - RANCHO (1)

The end of the regular season is quickly approaching with every game having playoff implications and yesterday’s matchup between Rancho and Desert Oasis was no different. The Rams had their #1 arm and Embry-Riddle Recruit, Noah Tschopp, on the bump in an effort to silence the Desert Oasis bats and through 4 innings, he did just that sitting 90-92 mph, touching 93 with a downhill fastball to go with a slider/changeup secondary mix where both flashes potential plus action as the slider was thrown almost exclusively to RHH and the changeup was primarily thrown to LHH, both thrown in any count with confidence. However, the Diamondback bats were able to jump out early and never looked back behind a stellar day at the plate from Nevada’s #3 ranked 2023 and Long Beach State Commit, Jet Gilliam, who turned around a 92 mph fastball for a triple to RCF to bring in a run and eventually score himself, singled in his second at-bat, then tripled again, this time to LCF, to bring in another run and secure his Player of the Game honors. Desert Oasis’ Uncommitted catcher - Jake Cook, Mesa CC Recruit - Justin Walker, and UCSB Commit - Seth Lyons all added a hit and an RBI (Walker - 2 RBI), to help extend the lead and secure a critical win for the Diamondbacks heading into the home stretch of the regular season.
