PBR Nevada ProCase: Statistical Analysis

Brett Harrison
Nevada Scouting Director

With the Inaugural PBR Nevada ProCase come and gone, we take a look back at the performances of the Top 2021-2022 MLB Draft Prospects our state has to offer. Last Sunday, 60+ Major League Baseball Scouts made their way to Las Vegas Ballpark to watch a hyper focused event that highlighted both the top High School in the state beginning with a Pro-Style Workout that including: Laser Timed 60's, Extended Blast Motion and TrackMan Analyzed Batting Practice and Defensive Evaluations.

The day began with 2022 OF and Arizona commit, Justin Crawford, posting BLAZING 6.33 Laser Timed 60 which he followed up with a "Man, I felt slow today." Next, we had an electric batting practice session that saw balls leaving the yard to all fields with seven 100+ mph TrackMan Exit Velocities, but none higher than 2022 OF/1B and Arizona commit, Mason Neville's 104.01 mph Exit Velocity. Following Batting Practice, we shifted our attention to the defensive side of the ball starting with Catcher Evaluations where Gavin Mez posted a 1.88 Pop Time with a 74 mph Catcher Velocity to second base. Arizona commit and 2021 OF, Tyler Whitaker, posted the Top Outfield Velocity of the day topping out at 93 mph from right field with the lone Uncommitted prospect at the event, 2021 IF/RHP Elie Kligman, turning in a 91 mph Infield Velocity from shortstop.

Following the completion of the workout, Nevada's top arms toed the rubber against the top bats in a Live Batting Practice Session. 2021 right handed fireballer, Chris Cortez, lived in the 93-96 mph range with his fastball earning him the Top Max Fastball Velocity of the PBR Nevada ProCase. Cortez was closely followed by fellow Silverado Skyhawk, Tanner McDougal's 94 mph fastball making this the most dynamic one-two punch in the state for the upcoming high school season.

Below is the breakdown of the Top Performers from last weekend's PBR Nevada ProCase:
