Top Prospect Preview: 2021 Right-Handed Pitchers

With the Top Prospect Games quickly approaching, we will be taking a look at a number of players to watch in the Prospect Preview leading into Nevada's largest event of the summer hosted Las Vegas Ballpark. This event will features some of the top players from the 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024 classes who will be analyzed and assess with the help of the most advanced technology in baseball, TrackMan and Blast Motion. Day 1 will feature a Pro-Style workout where players will be running a Laser Timed 60, Batting Practice session using Blast Motion to analyze In-Swing Data and TrackMan to assess Post Contact Metrics, Outfield Evaluations, Infield Evaluations and Catcher Evaluations. Day 2 will include Live-Streamed game play that will allow some of the top arms in the state to showcase their abilities against some of the best bats Nevada has to offer. 

Jesus Gonzalez - Basic Academy, Uncommitted
Gonzalez was a standout at the Basic Academy Scout Day where his fastball topped out at 87 mph. He comes into this event as an Under the Radar prospect who projects to be able to add more velocity as he continues to develop physically. He possesses an athletic delivery that still has room to clean up which in turn should into increased velocity on his fastball as well as improved command and effectiveness of his secondary pitches. This is a player that the PBR Staff excited to watch him perform just over a week from now.

Cole Roberts - Desert Oasis, Uncommitted
Roberts has been a player that seems to get slightly lost in the shuffle of the Desert Oasis pitching staff that seems to reload on arms each year. In his two starts in the shorten 2020 season, he threw two complete games, racking up 13 strikeouts over the two appearances while allowing zero walks. A strike thrower with a low 80’s fastball and is confident enough to spin a breaking ball in any count. What he lacks in size, he makes up for him competitiveness as a pitcher who will do whatever it takes to get you out. This a one of the handful of arms coming to the Top Prospect Games from Desert Oasis that should open some eyes.

Christian Dijkman - Faith Lutheran, Uncommitted
Dijkman has made the most of this down time over the past six month, shedding 50 pounds from his frame and has seen the impact of his improved physical shape already pay off. He has racked up multiple quality starts for the Bases Loaded Elite group in the few tournaments they have played in this summer with his improved stamina allowing him to maintain his low 80’s velocity longer into his outings. The one thing that has not change for him over the past six months is his competitiveness on the mound. He consistently toes the rubber with a chip on his shoulder and is able to make the most of his developing three pitch mix.
