Uncommitted Spotlight: '20 Jaden Trueblood

Jaden Trueblood announced his presence at the Northern Nevada Scout Day as a compact framed prospect that packs a punch, whether it's at the plate or on the mound. In the field, he showcased his ability to handle both the forehand and backhand plays with enough carry on his throws to stay at third, but could also project to make the move to second with his athleticism and lateral quickness. With his line drive approach, his bat may also project to have him moving over to second base to make way for a power bat to fill up the third base position. Along with his tools in the field, one the mound is where Trueblood truly stood out at the Scout Day earning the events Top Fastball Velocity at 86 mph to go with his late action curveball and fading changeup.

Positional Profile: 3B, has the arm to stay there, could project to move to 2B
Body: 5-foot-6, 165-pounds. Compact frame, stout build, strong lower half
Defense: Comfort moving to forehand and backhand, lateral quickness, good feet, soft hands
Arm: IF - 78. Quick, short arm cycle, high 3/4 arm slot, good carry
Hit: RHH. Narrow, open stance. Long stride but maintains balance. Level bat path, some natural lift. Mostly pull side.
Power: 89 mph exit velocity from the tee
Run: 7.28 runner

Pitching
Delivery: Works with tempo. Polished, rhythmic actions. Low effort. On-line stride with balanced finish
Arm Action: Short, quick arm action, throws over tall front side, high ¾ slot.
FB: T86, 84-86 mph. Lives down in the zone, flashed late run and tilt.
CB: 72-74 mph. Late 11/5 action. Repeated arm speed. Locates well
CH: 76-77 mph. Slight fade, tends to slow arm down.

Trueblood is a two-way prospect that should to be able to do both at the next level and one that won't be on the market much longer.
