Las Vegas Preseason ID (Session 1) - Quick Hits
January 23, 2025
LAS VEGAS, NV - The Las Vegas Preseason ID (Session 1), our first event of the year, was held on Tuesday, January 21st at UNLV's Earl E. Wilson Stadium in Las Vegas, NV. This event was an open event that consisted of prospects from the 2025-2028 classes to update their profiles with relevant data heading into the 2025 High School Season. These players went through extended pro-style workout that included batting practice using Trackman and Blast Motion, ran the 60-Yard Dash using VALD Performance, and much more. Pitchers were able to throw in simulated bullpens during the workout and were able to get numbers and metrics off of our Trackman unit, such as pitch velocity, spin rate, horizontal & vertical movement & much more. There were some players who showed up and continued to build off of prior performances, but there were also some new names who jumped onto our radar with a strong showing on Tuesday night.
Kicking off our post-event coverage for this event, we continue our Quick Hits edition by highlighting the prospects who made an impression on the Prep Baseball Staff at the event. Please continue to check back over the next week, as we will release other leaderboards and individual scouting reports on each player present at the event.
Please keep checking back throughout the season as we will be your one-stop shop for everything related to high school baseball across the state. Each week we will be releasing our Players of the Week and updating the Top 10 Rankings.

Logan Grubbs OF / 1B / Palo Verde, NV / 2027Rankings StateRank: 14 / POS: 5
Arguably, nobody as had more helium than Logan Grubbs, who we had out at the Dodgers Elite Scout Day last Fall and showcased an improved swing with much more fluidity and understanding how to use the leverage he could generate with his Prep Baseball Verified 6-foot-5 frame. Currently at 193.8 pounds, his 97.8 mph TrackMan Exit Velocity is just the beginning of what we project to come as he is expect to continue adding strength and size, that will ultimately translate in his offensive metrics steadily continuing to progress.

Karsen Smaka OF / RHP / Palo Verde, NV / 2027Rankings StateRank: 5 / POS: 2
One of the best overall athletes in Silver State, regardless of class, Smaka already has the present tools that we projected to translate well to the next level. The bounce and tempo he plays with is only amplified by the present speed (VALD Verified - 6.89) he possesses along with the flashes of power potential that we see already transitioning into present power with his 94.8 mph TrackMan Exit Velocity on a frigid night. Smaka had his breakout Spring last year as a freshman with the State Champion, Palo Verde Panthers, and we expect him to be a key piece this Spring as they look to run it back.
