Las Vegas Preseason ID (Session 2) - Quick Hits

Brett Harrison
West Coast Supervisor

LAS VEGAS, NV - The Las Vegas Preseason ID (Session 2), our first event of the year, was held on Wednesday, January 22nd at UNLV's Earl E. Wilson Stadium in Las Vegas, NV. This event was an open event that consisted of prospects from the 2025-2028 classes to update their profiles with relevant data heading into the 2025 High School Season. These players went through extended pro-style workout that included batting practice using Trackman and Blast Motion, ran the 60-Yard Dash using VALD Performance, and much more. Pitchers were able to throw in simulated bullpens during the workout and were able to get numbers and metrics off of our Trackman unit, such as pitch velocity, spin rate, horizontal & vertical movement & much more. There were some players who showed up and continued to build off of prior performances, but there were also some new names who jumped onto our radar with a strong showing on Tuesday night.

Kicking off our post-event coverage for this event, we continue our Quick Hits edition by highlighting the prospects who made an impression on the Prep Baseball Staff at the event. Please continue to check back over the next week, as we will release other leaderboards and individual scouting reports on each player present at the event.

Please keep checking back throughout the season as we will be your one-stop shop for everything related to high school baseball across the state. Each week we will be releasing our Players of the Week and updating the Top 10 Rankings.

Noah Knudson SS / OF / Palo Verde, NV / 2028

Nevada’s #1 Ranked 2028 came into the Las Vegas Preseason ID with high expectations and he did not disappoint with his mature, line drive filled Batting Practice Session where he posted a 94.6 mph TrackMan Exit Velocity on a frigid night at UNLV. Defensively, he has already shown improvements in the fluidity and lateral range to both the forehand and backhand sides with confident, advanced actions that we expect to only continue to trend over the next few years.

Shawn Mack RHP / 1B / Liberty, NV / 2026

Though Mack wasn’t too impressed with his TrackMan Bullpen Session, the numbers say otherwise. His Fastball topping at an event best 87.0 mph on a cool night that saw his Induced Vertical Break up to 20.2 inches along with 13.5 inches of Horizontal Movement with a 90% Spin Efficiency. The Slider has ascended to his go-to secondary pitch and rightfully so after it has tightened up to work better off his Fastball with a 2828 rpm Spin Rate and 21.7 inches of Horizontal Movement. His Curveball has also showed improvements in command with a 75% Strike Percentage with most misses being down in the zone, Spinning at 2682 rpm with 17.7 inches of Induced Vertical Break. The 2024 Future Games standout will headline an intriguing Liberty rotation as they look to make a deep run this Spring.

Eli Leone 3B / SS / Faith Lutheran, NV / 2027

Rankings  StateRank: 18 / POS: 3

The Faith Lutheran product has seen his physical development,  over the past year, develop and amplify each part of his game as he produced one of more mature Batting Practice Sessions of the Las Vegas Preseason ID with line drives sprayed to all fields with flashes of power starting to shine through. Now standing at a Prep Baseball Verified 5-foot-11, 150.4 pound, Leone is still just scratching the surface of where we project him to be in the next few years with much more expect to come.

Liam Radke RHP / OF / Faith Lutheran, NV / 2027

The sophomore has continued to prove himself as one of the top prospects in Nevada’s 2027 Class. After his performance at the 2024 Future Games against a stout Team Arizona, his arsenal continues to trend with advanced feel for each of his three pitches that he can command effictively. His Fastball cruising in the mid-80’s (more in the tank) paired with his Slider that spun up to 2728 rpm wiht 17.5 inches of Horizontal Movement along with his Changeup that showed present tunnel and heaviness that flashes 22.9 inches of Horizontal Movement. Radke is going to be a key piece of the Faith Lutheran rotation this Spring.

Derek Wenzel RHP / OF / Basic Academy, NV / 2028

The freshman comes off a successful Summer campaign and showed off his projectable actions on both sides of the ball. His line drive filled Batting Practice Session showed that he has feel for the barrel with flashes of power potential, especially to the pull side. On the mound, he showed some present polish in his delivery that saw his Fastball running up to 83.3 mph with 17.8 inches of Horizontal Movement, his developing Curveball that he showed an ability to command and his seemingly go-to secondary pitch, his Changeup, the he commanded for 100% Strike Percentage and saw the Horizontal Movement up to 21.2 inches.

Tiernon Wolf 2B / RHP / Southeast Career Tech, NV / 2025

Wolf has proven to be a Swiss Army Knife type player with the present ability to hold down a middle infield spot, as well as an ability to get it done on the mound. But, where the SECTA product shines, is at the plate. His 102.8 mph TrackMan Exit Velocity lead not only Session 2, but both of the Las Vegas Preseason ID’s as he also lead the Max Distance category at 407 feet. This is another prospect that we project to get it done at the next level with his game expected to continue trending as he continues to add size and strength to his 5-foot-11 frame.

Justin Rodrigues SS / 2B / Bishop Gorman, NV / 2027

Rodrigues was one of the players the Prep Baseball Staff had circled on our list as players we expect to put together big performance at the Las Vegas Preseason ID and he did not disappoint. The Bishop Gorman shortstop has seen his complete game continue to trend and it was on full display with multiple personal bests being posted including - Infield Velocity - 88 mph, TrackMan Exit Velocity - 96.5 mph, Blast Bat Speed - 73.9 mph and Blast Hand Speed - 20.9 mph. We expect the sophomore to have his breakout Spring in 2025 as a key contributor in a stout Gaels lineup.

Kayne Horibe / RHP / Pahrump Valley High School, NV / 2026

The 2026 out of Pahrump Valley made his presence know early at the Las Vegas Preseason ID with his 94.3 mph TrackMan Exit Velocity along with his 87.3 mph Average Exit Velocity that proved he could find the barrel consistently. Defensively, his controlled, but aggressive, routes to and through the ball helped him get on line to his target that helped him register a share of the Top Outfield Velocities of 87 mph. The two sport athlete was a relative unknown heading into the event, and the Prep Baseball Nevada staff has definitely taken notice of the small school product.

Logan Schouten LHP / 1B / Moapa Valley, NV / 2025

Another small school product out of Moapa Valley, Schouten has quickly ascended into one of the top power bats to follow in Nevada’s 2025 Class. His 98.8 mph TrackMan Exit Velocity proves the work he has put into add physical strength to his Prep Baseball Verified 6-foot-2 frame. His improved actions around the bag, as well as the improved receiving of throws across the infield was one of the key pieces we were looking for him to improve in to become a legitimate prospect that could play at the next level. Schouten should be on more than a few radars heading into his Senior campaign.

Brent Isip SS / 2B / Bishop Gorman, NV / 2027

One of the biggest winners of the Las Vegas Preseason ID’s was sophomore, Brent Isip. His line drive filled Batting Practice Session caught the attention of the Prep Baseball Nevada staff with flashes of power and much more projected to come. He shined on the defensive side of ball with easy, advanced actions and feel for each play he was given, ranging with flow laterally to both the forehand and backhand sides. This is a player that we will be keeping a close eye on over the next few years and don’t be surprised if he makes a big jump in 2025.

Christian Conley C / OF / Foothill, NV / 2027

The Foothill product took no time at all to announce his presence at the Las Vegas Preseason ID with a LOUD Batting Practice Session with 97.0 mph TrackMan Exit Velocity along with an event best 91.0 Average Exit Velocity. Behind the plate, he continued to shine as he posted event bests in both Catcher Pop Time - 1.97 and Catcher Velocity - 77 mph, proving he should be in the discussion among the top catching prospects in Nevada’s 2027 Class. Keep an eye on Conley this Spring to be a key piece of the Falcons’ lineup.

Crosby McGreal RHP / OF / Coronado, NV / 2028

The Coronado freshman and 2024 Junior Future Games alum stood tall amongst an Upperclass heavy Las Vegas Preseason ID, especially on the offensive side of the ball where he registered a 98.5 mph TrackMan Exit Velocity that ranked him 3rd in the event. Already standing at a Prep Baseball verified 6-foot-2, 180.6 pound, this is a two-way that we expect to announce his presence early for the Cougars.
