Las Vegas Rising Stars ID: Positional Data Dive

On Saturday, March 22nd, the Prep Baseball Nevada staff hosted it's first of two Rising Stars showcases this spring with the Las Vegas Rising Stars ID hosted at Bishop Gorman High School in Las Vegas, Nevada. The event featured 85+ prospects from the Southern Nevada area and it was a strong group of 2029 and 2030 prospects on hand for their introduction to the Prep Baseball product and showcase scene.
The event saw all players running through a full workout alongside our tech partners TrackMan and VALD Performance, while also collecting positional metrics. Rising Stars showcases serve as an introductory showcase for prospects in Grade 7 and Grade 8 (2029 and 2030), while also serving as an identifier for the annual Junior Future Games which is the premiere events across the country for the age group.

Exit Velocity: This metric measures the speed of the ball, measured in miles per hour, as it comes off the bat at the moment of contact.
BATTED BALL DISTANCE (MAX)
Distance – This metric measures how far the ball traveled, or would travel if it was not obstructed, measured in feet.
BATTED BALL DISTANCE (AVG.)
HARD HIT %
Hard Hit % - Percentage of batted balls with an exit velocity of 90 MPH or higher.
SWEET SPOT %
Sweet Spot %: This metric is determined by how often the player produces a batted ball during the session with a launch angle between 8 to 32 degrees.
