TELL US MORE...

Tell us about your commitment to Rhode Island. Why did you decide on your school?
I connected well with the coaching staff, URI was a place I felt comfortable and where I think I can grow and develop as a player. The facilities were top notch. And one thing that really mattered to me was the competition I would be up against, and the A10 is very competitive and URI constantly plays a tough schedule where I could compete against the best daily.

The offseason is upon us. Tell us a little about your off-season training:
I train at Kings Baseball Academy which is the facility of my summer team. My strength training program was made by my Kings coaches which attacks the lower half and core to increase stability and velocity and prevent injury. I do strength training 5-6 days a week.

Baseball is a game built on adversity & failure. How have you dealt with the the ups & downs the game brings? Who might have helped you along the way?
When I face a low moment, like a bad outing I take the night off then the next morning I think about what went wrong and why, and that is when I get back to work on how to improve that flaw. In baseball you can’t let anything mentally get to you because once you doubt yourself you are out of the game before the first pitch is thrown. I use my good moments to build my confidence so it gets to the point where I can play with an edge and know no one is better than me, and that is when I am at my best. One coach that has helped me with the mental side of baseball has been Coach Jose Reyes, he has mastered the mindset a baseball player needs to succeed and once I starting talking with him my game was elevated to the next level without even touching a ball or weight.

Who is your biggest influence in the game today?
My biggest influence is my dad. He taught me how to play baseball and sparked my love for the game. We have shared countless memories playing and watching baseball together.

Best player you ever shared the field with and why?
Jack Scanlon (Suffern / Oregon). I pitched and hit against him in high school ball this spring. It was his first appearance of the year and he had 5 MLB scouts there to watch him. It was the first time I’ve hit against 90. It was a great experience to go head to head with the best. I definitely learned a lot from that game about what level I need to get to this year. I actually have also played with him before and he caught one of my games.

How has your experience been with Prep Baseball Report?
My experience has been great. I have went to three events where I have been in touch with many college coaches because of these events. The Border Battle event I attended in the fall, was actually where the University of Rhode Island coach first saw me play. Without Prep Baseball Report, he would’ve never seen me play, and for that I would like to thank you guys. One piece of advice to everyone is before you go to a PBR showcase make sure you have done everything to show out and make a name for yourself.

Most embarrassing moment on a ball-field?
I dropped a pop up and it hit me square in the face, then I had to go to the emergency room. Worst part I was 14 at the time.

IN CLOSING...

The ultimate long term goal is what?
My long term goal is to get myself in the best shape possible so I can have a great college career, and also help my team win many games and impact my teammates in a positive way. My main goal is to win as many games as possible, if you aren’t playing a sport to win then there is no point in playing it. Then after college to come out and put myself in a good position to get drafted. The work only starts once you commit and get on campus.
