TELL US MORE...

Tell us about your commitment to Notre Dame. Why did you decide on your school?
When I got on campus I just knew that Notre Dame was where I wanted to be. The campus is beautiful and the background and history at the school is unreal. Being able to call it my future home is awesome. The coaches there are unbelievable. I feel like I am putting myself in the best possible place to fulfill my dream of playing professional baseball.

The offseason is upon us. Tell us a little about your off-season training:
From October - December I do not throw off a mound to give my arm a rest. I take 10 weeks off completely and then progress slowly into long tossing twice a week which is very important. I workout 5 times a week along with a throwing program on off days. I do a lot of leg and core workouts because that’s where most of your power comes from when pitching. Beginning of January I will begin to throw off the mound again and get back into the swing of things.

Baseball is a game built on adversity & failure. How have you dealt with the the ups & downs the game brings? Who might have helped you along the way?
You just have to keep pushing yourself to keep getting better. When I was younger failure wouldn’t get to my head where now I just look past it and focus on what’s going on now instead of in the past. Baseball is a very mental game and you just have to want it more than everyone else and push yourself to get better every single day. My parents for sure and all my coaches who have been a part of my journey. Friends who have always believed in me saying I can do anything. And teachers who have helped me get good grades to be able to go to a great school for not only athletics but academics.

Who is your biggest influence in the game today?
Derek Jeter because of the way he composed himself. He never showed that he was better than anyone else. He was classy and respectful of the game which just makes him one of the greatest ever.

Best player you ever shared the field with and why?
Avery Cook. Me and and Avery have known each other for years and he has always been a role model for me. Avery composed himself in a way I have never seen. He shows respect for the game and doesn’t show anybody up and is a very humble person which I think is very important in good players.

How has your experience been with Prep Baseball Report?
It has been fantastic. All the events are always great and fun. Other people should go to showcases because its a chance to be seen by schools. If you want to play baseball in college you should definitely go to a PBR showcase.
