Robin Adames 3B (James Monroe) is without question a next-level baseball player with tremendous power at the plate and sleek actions at the corner. When watching him take infield it's reminiscent to my professional playing days seeing the quick hands, and the extra smooth glove. We just learned he will be taking his strong arm, and big body behind the dish hoping to increase his stock this spring. Rumor has it last year the powerful 6-foot-1, 225-pounder hit a ball at a NJ tournament over 450 feet. With the swing I've seen it's likely no far stretch. Let's take a deeper look into what makes the Bronx native so special on the field.

PBR: Tell us where you grew up, when you started playing baseball, and who are your influences.

Adames: I grew up in on of the five boroughs of NYC, the Bronx. I began playing baseball at the age of 4 and haven't looked back. My dad is a big influence of mine. I've always enjoyed watching baseball with him and sharing talks on how I would become successful in the game.

PBR: We all know your a standout on the field, but how's things looking in the classroom?

Adames: Academics are very important to me because they can open up endless opportunities for me. In baseball there are no guarantees, so my family and I believe heavily on education.

PBR: The recruiting process can be pretty messy. Give up your top three schools, and do you have any offers on the board?

Adames: The recruiting process has been an awesome ride. I love baseball and feel blessed to have these opportunities because of a game. Schools I'd really like to look into are Pittsburgh, St. John's, and Vanderbilt. And yes I have received a few offers, more to come.

PBR: There's little debate that your a lock down 3B with a plus arm, so why the switch to catcher this spring?

Adames: I've caught when I was younger here and there, and I'll mess around a lot lately throwing down to the bases using my arm strength. Everyone who watches me says my potential is great behind the plate. I think my stock might be better as a plus hitting catcher, so I have decided to make that switch for my senior year.

PBR: It's November and starting to get cold, but your still working hard much like any high-level athlete would. Tell us about your training and who, if anyone, is helping you along the way.

Adames: I try to get some swings in everyday and with my swing I just want to keep it powerful and unique. I work with Melvin Perez on my game and he's been great to me. Over the winter I'm trying to get stronger and faster, while building up my legs for resistance behind the plate. This spring is my big chance so I a doing everything I can to be prepared.

PBR: Who do you model your game after?

Adames: Miguel Cabrera

PBR: Tell us something about yourself other people might not know.

Adames: Something about me people might want to know is that I have an intense ambition and love for the game. I don't just want to make it to the MLB someday, but be considered someone who game his all to the game every time he stepped on the field.
