New York Draft Preview



The 2017 Major League Draft takes place June 12-14. In advance of the draft, Prep Baseball Report is posting a summary of each state in the coverage area with scouting reports on the top high school draft prospects.

After last year’s impressive draft class of 11 high school prospects, New York once again offers several certifiable players who should have their names called at some point. OF Quentin Holmes (Monsignor McClancy Memorial HS, NY) has rightfully received the most attention, but because of his following, a teammate has caught the eyes of scouts.

Holmes, a Mississippi State recruit, is wiry and athletic at 6-foot-2, 185 pounds. He is one of the fastest players in the country and floats all over the field. He has a low maintenance set-up at the plate with a wide stance and quiet timing.
