He throws a 2/8 shape curveball at 63 with gradual break. Pitchers

Calvin Blish RHP/1B (Elmira HS, NY 2015)
Blish stands a strong 6-foot-2 205 pounds with a fastball at 87-88 mph with  some late run. He showed a nice 12/6 shape curveball that ranged 71-75. His mechanics are a touch funky with short arm action but it works for him. He’s relatively new to the position so there’s some upside and projection with Blish and I feel there’s more in the tank when he gets it all figured out.

Jack Caswell LHP (St. Thomas Aquinas, Ontario 2015)
Caswell has great size at 6-foot-3 180 pounds and oozes projection. His fastball was consistently in the low 80’s topping 83 mph. He shows a nice 1/7 shape curveball with some sharp action at 70 mph. Changeup had hand speed and faded arm side at 74 mph. His fastball has late life and arm side run with some deception. Needs to add some weight and could see some added velocity.

Nicholas Virdo RHP (St. Marguerite D’Youville, Ontario 2016)
Virdo stands 6-foot-3 180 pounds and has a high ceiling. His fastball sat 82-84 mph but has the late life on it appearing harder. He steps across his body and gets some extra arm side run because of that, not sure if I would change it or not, works for him. His 69 mph slider had nice sweep to it with 10/4 shape. Virdo is definitely a projectable pitcher at the next level.

Fascia has good size at 6-foot-1 190 pounds. He showed good arm strength sitting 84-86 mph on the fastball. He has good action on the ball and threw a lot of strikes. His curveball had some sharp spin with 11/5 shape at 65-68 mph. Fascia is a baseball junky and work horse. Burlingame has a lot of projection and is young, look forward to seeing him grow.

Stott stands 6-foot-0 182 pounds and has an athletic slender body. He works fast with all pitches rushing some. His fastball sits 80-82 with a lot of arm side run with late action. Blovsky stands 6-foot-1 175 pounds and throws from an over the top arm slot. He shows an accurate arm at 71 mph across the field. His footwork is solid with a clean exchange. With the bat his approach is balanced and stays inside the baseball well with an 76 mph exit velocity off a tee.

Nate Gorges RHP/3B (Corning HS, NY 2016)
Gorges stands 6-foot-0 180 pounds and swings a nice quick bat with an 84 mph exit velocity off a tee. Very smooth balanced approach and smoked two balls in the game off quality arms. At 3B he has a solid glove and good footwork. Slow release and arm is 75 mph across field.

Logan O'Connell 3B (Olean HS, NY 2016)
O'Connell stands 5-foot-10 160-pounds with a slender frame. He moves his feet towards his target after fielding the ball and throws 73 mph across the field. He wraps the bat some on his load, his exit velocity off the tee was 78 mph. He ran a 4.67 home to first time.

5/21/14

Ryan Walker, SS (Corning HS, NY)
Walker is playing the position very nicely this year after being in the outfield the past couple years. He shows good lateral movement to the ball and plays faster than his 60 time indicates (7.0). He has quick hands and a smooth glove with a plus arm across the diamond. His hands are a bit too high in his swing and faster pitching will cause him to make an adjustment, right now hes hitting very well making strong contact and playing with 100 percent effort. I like his effort a lot.

John Zamites, OF (Olean HS, NY)
Zamites swings it nice from the left side, a little funky but it works for him. He runs well out of the box (4.2) to first and watched him go back on a smoked ball and make a great catch. Showed good instincts and proper footwork, I like his overall projection to the next level and he still has a few years. Will be at our June 21st event.

Brett Helmbrecht, C (St. Mary's HS, NY

Helmbrecht only stands 5-foot-8 but don't let the size fool you, the kid plays with a lot of heart and is very gritty. Good instincts behind the plate with some raw tools. Needs time at NCCC to gain some muscle and continue to develop but should be in good hands with Coach Clingersmith. Helmbrecht's arm at first glance is average but his release and footwork help give consistent times to second. He hits for average making solid contact from the left side.

Jake Casey, LHP (Homer HS, NY)
Casey stands 6-foot-1 175 pounds, and is dominating the mound in CNY. In 34 innings pitched he's recorded 60 strikeouts while only walking eight. He's signed to a very strong northern program in Canisius and could help them as soon as he walks on campus. Either way he will learn a ton from a great staff and continue to develop. His fastball sits low to mid 80's touching 86, and with a good program under his belt I see a lot more in the tank. Great kid

Nico Limoncelli, SS (Horseheads HS, NY) 2017
Limoncelli comes from a baseball background, he's got all the right teachers in his corner, and the kid works hard. He has nice quick smooth hands and shows some above average range for a kid his age. His arm is average but is to be expected at 9th grade. He swings from the left side and has a clean pure swing. With his hard work he will continue to grow and tighten up his craft, I expect Limoncelli to be very good in the next few years.

Scott Blewett, RHP (Baldwinsville HS, NY) –St. Johns commit
Blewett stands 6-foot-6 230 pounds and fires 90-94 mph Heaters. He throws a next level curve ball with some serious bite at 76 mph. Change up is a little too fast at 83-84 mph but should improve with some time. Potential mid – late 1st round draft pick

Adam Heidenfelder, RHP (MacArthur HS, NY) –Hofstra commit
Heidenfelder stands 6-foot-4 240 pounds and can run the fastball up around 90 mph. His fastball has a lot of late life to it creating good late action. Off speed needs work and should develop more in college if he doesn’t get drafted this June.

Giovanni Abreu, RHP (George Washington HS, NY) –Hofstra commit
Abreu oozes projection with his 6-foot-2 slender 170 pound frame with plenty of room to develop. His fastball sits in the upper 80’s topping 92 mph. Clean delivery with good arm action, three pitch mix, Abreu is a definite next level prospect.

Brendan Spagnuolo, RHP (Chaminade HS, NY) –Vanderbilt commit
Spagnuolo stands 6-foot-2 190 pounds with a projectable frame. His arm works loose and free with a fastball sitting 89-91. Has shown more in the tank touching 93-94. Headed to Vanderbilt so would need to get drafted pretty high, a definite prospect.

Jack Piekos, LHP (Bayport Blue Point HS, NY) –Maryland commit
In a class thin on LHP Piekos may be the most polished in 2014. A very good athlete with a good mix of pitches. His fastball sits 85-87 mph touching an 88 once in a while. Being left handed and having a good feel for his off speed make him a tough guy to square up. He is known for his competitive edge on the mound.

Mike Goren, RHP (Jericho HS, NY) –Clemson commit
Goren Stands 6-foot-3 195 pounds with room to add some weight. A very profectable interesting prospect. Fastball can touch 91 mph, sitting 86-88 and throws a sharp spinning curve in the low to mid 70’s. He’s headed to Clemson this fall where he should develop nicely.

Zack Kolodziejski, RHP (Livonia HS, NY) –Niagara University commit
Kolodziejski may be under rated, but is definitely a serious prospect. Standing at 6-foot-2 190 pounds he has the frame to hold 10-15 pounds more of muscle. His arm works free and easy with his fastball sitting 87-89 touching 90 mph with a power type slider at 76. Kolodziejski has a high ceiling for his growth, great work by the Niagara U staff on scooping him up.

Brady Renner, RHP (St. Dominic HS, NY) –George Washington University commit
Renner stands 6-foot-3 190 pounds and makes the list due to his nasty deception and movement. Renner who throws from a very low ¾ arm slot creates nice arm side run and sink, mix in an 85-88 mph fastball and funky off speed, Renner is sure to compete right away at GW next year.

Tom Digiorgi, RHP (Half Hollow Hills West HS, NY) –St. Petersburg commit
Digiorgi stands a towering 6-foot-5 220 pounds. His fastball sits upper 80’s, touching 92. Not a lot of projection with his frame and size but still a potential draft guy this June. He’s headed to beautiful St. Petersburg Florida this fall if he doesn’t get drafted this June.

Nate Grant, LHP (Corning HS, NY) –St. Bonaventure commit
Grant who stands 5-foot-11 175 pounds is the most under rated pitcher in the 2014 class. Grant who never played serious travel ball has been under the radar in upstate NY. Going into the spring he was unsigned and hoping for a chance to play college ball. Grant’s teammate Zach Sullivan (Top outfielder in the 2014 class) has had MLB scouts at every game to see him play, and while they love watching Sullivan, most left saying who is that Grant kid. Grant has been sitting 85-87 mph with a feel for all 3 pitches. Plus change up and a 72-73mph under the hands on a righty slurve.

Drew Lugbauer
, C (Arlington HS, NY) –Michigan commit
Lugbauer stands an impressive 6-foot-4, 210 pounds, with excellent pro size behind the dish. Lugbauer moves well behind the plate, very strong defensively, and from the left side runs average for his position. Arm strength is next level with consistent pop times under 2.0 and has some plus power potential. He needs to be more consistent with the bat but could hear his name called this June Draft.

Robert Calabrese
, C (Poly Prep Country Day) –Illinois Chicago commit
Calabrese has a professional look about himself, very well put together at 6-foot-2, 205 pounds. Very good consistent release and a pop time of 1.9-1.95 all day. Plus runner for his position with some power potential. A potential draft guy this June.

Jason Agresti, C (JFK Catholic HS, NY) –Binghamton commit
Agresit stands 6-foot-2, 185 pounds with room to add some weight. Solid defensively behind the plate and runs ok from the right side. Plus contact hitter with some power potential, his arm is average for a college prospect hovering around 2 seconds flat.

Anthony Fava, C (Lakeland HS, NY) –St. John’s
Fava is a 6-foot-1, 190 pound athletic catcher with a good arm. His pop time is in the 1.9 range and shows signs of a strong makeup. He will continue to grow under St. John’s watchful eye. Good solid stick with signs of gap to gap power.

Chris Tracz, C (Plainview-JFK HS, NY) –Marist commit
Tracz is a 6-foot-0, 175 pound LHH who sports an athletic frame with room to grow. Moves well for his position with a strong accurate arm. Has shown some power potential from the left side and has a balanced approach. He has the makeup to develop into a next level guy if he progresses at Marist.

Mathew Annunziata, 3B (Eastport-South Manor HS, NY) –Hofstra commit

Annunziata stands 6-foot-0, 190 pounds with a nice clean left hand swing. Runs well from the left side (6.9) and shows some power to all fields. Average arm across the diamond will compete right away at Hofstra.

Joseph Sanchez, 1B (Mercersburg Academy, NY)
Sanchez stands 6-foot-1 190 pounds with room to add some weight. Nice skills and feel around the bag and runs ok for his position. Stays tall on his backside well driving through the baseball, quick hands to the baseball. Shows a strong arm, interesting prospect.

Charles Sobieraski, 3B (Lockport HS, NY) –Buffalo commit
Sobieraski stands 6-foot-4, 215 pounds with great size at the corner. He shows a strong arm (87 mph) and a solid glove. He has the ability to drive the baseball to the gaps, with some power potential from the right side. He should compete for playing at UB early on.

Brennan Strovink, 1B (Rocky Point HS, NY) –Lamar commit
Strovink has good hands to the ball from the left side, showing plus power. He is a strong physical kid with a nice simple approach at the plate. Right hand thrower works nice with the glove around the bag. Will only improve at Lamar.

Chris Weiss, 3B (Longwood HS, NY) –Hofstra commit
Weiss stands 6-foot1, 195 pounds and can swing it. Has a next level arm (87mph) showing he can handle the corner at the next level. With the right development at Hofstra Weiss could be an interesting one to watch in a few years.

Kevin Smith, SS (Columbia HS, NY) –Maryland
Smith stands 6-foot-0, 190 pounds and shows the frame to add on a few pounds. He flashes a solid glove with a quick release and a plus arm (88mph) across the diamond. He works laterally as well as I have seen a HS kids move and will continue to grow at Maryland. He swings it extremely well with fast hands to the baseball with consistent contact. Some team might take a shot at Smith come this June draft.

Christian Pimentel, SS (Iona Prep, NY) –Ave Maria
Pimentel has the pro look, 6-foot-1, 190 pounds with smooth clean hands. Plus arm (87mph) and runs well (6.9) but needs a quicker release. He shows an aggressive batting style and some power from gap to gap. Interesting prospect.

Justin Yurchak, SS (Shenendehowa HS, NY) –Wake Forest
Yurchak stands 6-foot-1, 190 pounds with a great frame for his position. Left handed hitter with great instincts and barrels up the baseball well. Footwork is solid and shows fast hands and quick release with a solid throwing arm making his transition to Wake Forest that much smoother.

Jesse Berardi, SS (Commack HS, NY) –St. John’s
Beradi stands 5-foot-10, 175 pounds athletic and strong, showing great footwork, hands and a strong arm. I love the fact he swings it from the left side and shows signs of power potential. He will develop nicely at St. John’s.

Michael Osinski, SS (Vestal HS, NY) –Longwood
Osinski may be the most under rated middle guy in the State but we like him a lot. He oozes projection standing 6-foot-3, 185 pounds fielding a pro style body. He needs to grow more as a player and will at Longwood, but he already sports the raw tools needed to make the next level. He runs well (6.9) and has plus arm strength across the diamond. A good weight program and some college years under his belt and it will be interesting to see where he pans out.

Zach Sullivan, OF (Corning HS, NY) –Stony Brook commit
Sullivan is a no brainer with his athleticism and projection at the next level. He stands 6-foot-3, 180 pounds with plenty of frame to add some good weight. He runs like a deer, has great instincts to the ball, and he is continuing to swing the stick with bat speed and a solid approach. He runs a 6.5-6.6 60, and I have had his steal times around 3.4 to second. Sullivan could go in the top 10 rounds this upcoming June draft.

CJ Moore, OF (Suffield Academy HS, NY) –Lamar commit
Moore stands 6-foot-3 205 pounds with an athletic frame. He has the professional look about him when you see him play, right hand stick with strong bat speed. Runs very well for size 6.5-6.7 60 times. Has good range in the OF with the ability to move laterally well.

Tristan Rojas, OF (James Monroe HS, NY) –Grayson County CC commit

Rojas stands 5-foot-11 175 pounds and has a physical strong frame. He can run well (6.7) and has a good accurate arm but release needs to be quicker, and swings a fast bat. Shows some power potential on the inner third of the plate. Interesting prospect headed to Junior College.

Steven Foster, OF (Sachem North HS, NY) –Hofstra commit
Foster stands 5-foot-11 180 pounds, and swings it from the left side. He runs well (6.7) and shows plus instincts defensively. I like his bat and his power potential he shows, arm is a plus as well. Foster will continue to grow at Hofstra.

Aaron Floyd, OF (Longwood HS, NY) –Stony Brook
Floyd may be the most intriguing of all the outfielders in the 2014 Class. He stands 6-foot-2 170 pounds with plenty of room to add some weight. He runs solid for his size but plays faster in the field. Has a plus arm, probably the best in the list, and with his long loose levers creates some impressive power. Very interesting next level prospect.

5/8/14

Dave "Bubba" Hollins, Orchard Park, NY (2014)
Hollins plays a nice HS SS for Orchard Park with very good baseball instincts. He is always around the ball and plays the game the right way, with respect and heart. At the plate Hollins ripped three balls to all parts of the field showing great balance and hand eye to the baseball. He laced the third pitch he saw his first AB, an 86 mph fastball almost taking the pitchers head off. He will have no trouble at the next level hitting. His speed is a concern for a next level SS and he projects as a second basemen. He does play "baseball fast" using his instincts to help put him in good fielding positions.

Brandon Nicholson, Orchard Park, NY (2015)
Nicholson went 2-4 ripping his two doubles showing some very good bat control with solid contact of an Above Average HS pitcher. Nicholson runs very well 8.59 time second, and 3.44 steal time on a great jump. He also looks very smooth and sure handed at second base. Nicholson and Hollins are the two best middle guys together I have seen all year.

Luke Kuczewski, Orchard Park, NY (2015)
Kuczewski started on the mound and is solid for a 2015. His fastball sat 78-80 touching 81 with some arm action. His curve ball sat 68 mph but went to the well with it a few too many times. Would like to see him use his fastball more.

Ryan MacCarrick, Orchard Park, NY (2014)
MacCarrick is that hidden gem in the middle of a field who shines but is rarely seen. His batting stance at first glance might make you nervous, but his contact and power to the ball is absolutely next level. He's batting over .700 right now in HS, and off a mid 80's guy tonight he was all over it crushing an RBI double. He has great, quick hands to the baseball.

Jeff Palczewski, Orchard Park, NY (2016)
Palczewski was 2-3 at the plate with two doubles. Athletic kid who had a 4.24 rounding the bag on the way to second. This is a kid to keep an eye on.

Jake Woodrich, Orchard Park, NY (2016)
Woodrich is a quick kid from the Left side who ran 3.93 to first on contact.

Andrew Krokowski, St. Francis, NY (2014)
Krokowski stands 5'10 not your typical pitching body but this kid can pitch. His fast ball sat 83-85 touching 86 a handful of times, with a 73-75 sharp 11/5 shape breaking ball.

Brandon Heywood, St. Francis, NY
Heywood ripped a hard single and was very quick out of the box running a 4.19.

4/30/12

Matt Marsili RHP, Owego Free Academy, NY (2015)

Matt is an athletic, strong pitcher with good presence on the mound. In his first inning of work he sat 87 mph with his fastball showing signs of some late movement on both sides of the plate. Marsili pitches from a low to mid 3/4 arm slot which helps generate his 10/4 shape on his 73 mph slider. He also threw a slower (67-69) pitch with the same 10/4 shape. Not only can he pitch, but at the plate he looked very strong and balanced hitting an 85 mph fastball 380 feet in the gap. Quick hands and good eyes not offering at much out of the zone.

Mike Caprari CF, Owego Free Academy, NY (2014)
Mike is a gritty ball player, hard noised and always playing touch physical baseball. I really enjoyed watching him play. He had a nice AB from the left side driving in the first run of the game, showed balance (facing a LHP) and went back up the middle on a left on left slider. From the outfield he shows an average arm with some quickness side to side.

Michael Korchak LHP, Seton Catholic Central, NY (2014)
Michael stands at an athletic 6-foot-2 175 pounds with a pitchers frame. He's the definition of projectable. His fastball won't blow you away sitting 82-83 mph but its sneaky quick and gets on hitters fast. He did pop a couple 85's after a few hits so there's no reason that's all he has in the tank.  He showed signs of a nice chaneup (71-72) and a true slurve at 72-75.

Neil McCormack 3B, Seton Catholic Central, NY (2014)
Neil is a hefty 5-foot-11 230 pound who moves very well for his size. His lower half is very solid, looking like a fullback in football. In his second AB he drove an 86 mph fastball 380 feet off the left center field wall. How fast he made it to second impressed me, this kids is quick.

4/25/14 - 4/27/14 Scouting Notes from Scott Blewett’s third start, and Zach Sullivan’s big day

Scott Blewett RHP, Baldwinsville HS, NY (2014)
Blewett again showed signs of a potential first round draft pick this June. In front of more than 30 MLB scouts Blewett fired a handful of fastballs at 94 mph in the first inning. His 6-foot-6 size and 220 pound frame create a lot of power but still with a very quiet delivery. His curveball is his plus pitch with 11/5  hard shape and sitting at 74-78. Blewett mixed in a few changeups in the middle innings ranging from 83-86. He showed quick footwork on the mound when throwing over to first.

Brett DeLola Baldwinsville HS, NY (2014)
DeLola is a LHH who make solid contact and can run well out of the box. He beat out an infield single running a 4.28 to first.

Josh Loeffler IF, Fayetteville Manlius HS, NY (2016)
Loffler when at the plate facing Scott Blewett’s wicked curveball and 90+ heat looked like the best hitter on the field. He was rarely off balance, very nice approach to hitting with extremely fast hands to the baseball. He runs well, plays hard, his only knock would be he is a little undersized.

Zach Sullivan CF, Corning HS, NY (2014)
Sullivan stands 6-foot-3 185 pounds with a ton of projection. Saturday in front of five MLB scouts Zach showed he has quick hands at the plate with a confident approach having a four RBI day. One of Zach’s biggest + is his speed. Home to first time 4.08, 4.13 with impressive steal times at 3.13, 3.28. He again showcased his athleticism going in the gap to make a diving catch with runners on second and third. Zach’s stock is on the rise and it will be nice to see what happens come June.

4/25/14 Scouting Notes from Buffalo Area
(Crosschecked by Charles Karstedt)

Jeff Biddle RHP, Orchard Park HS, NY (2015)
Biddle a 6-foot-3 200 pound athletic pitcher has a lot of upside. He sat 83-84 for much of the 5 innings in which he dominated the Jamestown hitters.  His 3/4 slot creates nice arm-side run. He showed good command of a tight slider which breaks late on righty's and kept guys chasing all day. Changeup showed potential but was not used all too often as the FB was handling most hitters.

David Hollins SS, Orchard Park HS, NY (2014)
The son of former major leaguer Dave Hollins is continuing to stay hot at the plate. Yesterday Hollins was 2-4 with a double two RBI and a SB. The double was a line shot to the wall in left center where he's been showing great power. His plate discipline and ability to capitalize on mistake pitches makes him a very difficult out. His intangibles are second to none.  After watching a number of games he's shown great leadership and passion for the game on the field and in the dugout.  Hollins who has already committed to St. Petersburg CC in Florida is certainly one to watch for on draft day this June.

Dominic Cecere SS, Williamsville North HS, NY (2015)
Cecere has shown he's not only one of the top defensive shortstops in Western New York with great feet and a quick release. The sure handed defensive shortstop has been displaying + power at the plate as well. Cecere has also shown good speed on the bases stealing 4-4 bags in 3 games so far.

4/21/14 Scouting Notes from the Buffalo Area HS Action
(Crosschecked by Charles Karstedt)

Tyler Howard, RHP/SS, St. Joes HS, NY (2015)
Howard had a no hitter through 5 innings before giving up the only hit of the day in the 6th. He finished the game to get the complete game win over Clarence. The Junior was sitting 83-85mph all afternoon with a sharp curve ball at 71mph that was keeping a solid hitting Clarence team off balance. Howard has a strong lower half build with some upside.

Ryan MacCarrick OF, Orchard Park HS, NY (2014)

MacCarrick was 3-4 with 2 doubles. He shows a strong approach at the plate with good hands. The senior outfielder is continuing his success after a strong Junior season where he earned 1st team All Western New York Honors a year ago.

David Hollins SS, Orchard Park HS, NY (2014)

Hollins showed patience at the plate working 2 walks before hitting a home run to left center in the 7th inning. The senior shortstop who is committed to play ball in Florida at St. Petersburg CC showed great discipline at the plate. As one of the most respected hitters in Western New York right now Hollins maintains good patience at the plate despite often being pitched around. On his homerun he showed good hands staying short to the ball and driving a mistake by the pitcher about 350ft over the left center wall.

4/14/14 - 4/15/14, coverage from the Mingo Bay Baseball Classic / Ripken Experience

In two days filled with several rain delays and unfriendly playing conditions, here are some scouting notes from Myrtle Beach, SC.

Zach Neirstedt, SS, Elmira HS, NY (2014)
The big body 6-foot-4 SS has next level tools that stand out when you see him play. He went 4-4 with two hard hit doubles in front of five professional scouts in his first game south. Nierstedt shows an above average arm at the high school level with good hands. He looks like a possible first baseman at the next level with his size. He needs to improve his footwork and arm strength to stay at the SS position. Nierstedt is a very solid player whose stock is rising early on this season.

Jake Dimon, C, Horseheads HS, NY (2014)
Jake has average size for his position with a solid lower half. At the plate Dimon swings from the left side showing some power with good hand eye coordination and working all sides of the field. He crushed a one-hopper to the center field fence showing quick hands and some power. He also hit a hard double down the left field line showing good control of the bat using all fields in his approach. From the catching position Dimon needs to improve on his release time to second base. He shows a pop time of 2.19 with accuracy throwing out the only runner that attempted to steal. If Dimon can quicken up his transfer from glove to hand speed I see his pop time lower. Overall Dimon is definitely a college prospect being a solid defensive catcher with good control of the bat from the left side.

Calvin Blish, 1B/P, Elmira HS, NY (2015)
Blish has been swinging a hot bat to start 2014, and he didn’t disappoint me when I saw him play. He has a strong lower half with quick strong hands. Blish turned on a Fastball hitting an RBI double down the left field line in action Tuesday. On the mound Blish sat 81-84 mph with the fastball, and mixed in a curve ball at 70. His arm action on his curve ball looked a bit shorter than his fastball so with some adjustments that could be a sharper, more velocity pitch.

Jake Sisson, SS/C, Jamestown HS, NY (2014)
Sisson is put together especially in his lower half. He was a star for his high school football team as their starting quarterback. In his first at bat he connected with a fastball and hit a two run home run over the left field fence. His swing was compact and quick and his approach was balanced.

Brett Weiland, 1B, Horseheads HS, NY (2014)
Weiland passes the eye test as a next level guy. He stands 6-foot-3, 210 pounds and swings a strong stick with power from the left side. He has the hand eye coordination to be effective at the next level along with impressive bat speed and power. He's working on improving his footwork around first base which currently is average.

Brett Bouchard, LHP, Fairport HS, NY (2014)
Bouchard stands at 5-foot-10 185 pounds with an average body. He throws a fastball sitting at 78 mph, topping 82 once. He has natural late arm side action with slight sink. His curve ball has good spin and his change up ranged 70 mph with good deception. All three pitches were above average for a high school pitcher.

4/9/14

Scott Blewett, RHP, Charles W. Baker HS, NY (2014)
Blewett stands 6-foot-6, 220 pounds with a strong, athletic body. His legs are solidly built, but his upper body shows room for projection. In the first inning, Blewett pumped a few fastballs at 93 mph before settling in at 87-90. He works well downhill using his leverage to his advantage with a smooth, clean delivery. Through the first four innings Blewett worked quickly and efficiently, setting most hitters up with his fastball, and putting them away with his 74-77 mph curveball. His curveball has a ton of spin and sharp downward action that is a next-level pitch. In the fifth inning, his fastball stayed strong at 88-90 with good control. He pitched six innings, allowing two hits and a walk while striking out 15.

Jeff Belge, LHP, Henninger HS, NY (2016)
Belge stands at 6-foot-5, 220 pounds with a strong body type. For only being a sophomore, Belge shows a lot of room for growth and development, which every scout loves. In the first inning, Belge fired a handful of fastballs at 91, before settling in around 85-87. For the first three innings, he showed a lot of late, arm-side run. His slurve needs to be a little tighter but he's young and he was consistent with it, sitting 72-74 mph. What impressed me most was how he handled the fourth-inning, bases-loaded jam. After two errors loaded the bases, Belge refocused and was able to strike out the last batter to end the threat. If Belge's development stays on track, look for these same scouts to be at his first start of his senior year. He finished the day with four innings pitched and 11 strikeouts while allowing a hit and three walks.

Damon Ozelek, RHP, Henninger HS, NY (2014)
Ozelek is 6-foot-4, 185 pounds with a lot of room to grow. He flashed an 84 mph fastball, before sitting consistently at 79-82 mph. His curveball had some good break and deception, which sat at 72-73 mph.

John Larca, IF, Henninger HS, NY (2014)
The 5-foot-7, 175-pound middle infielder turned on a 90-mph fastball from Blewett in the fifth inning, which one-hopped the fence for a double. He shows quick hands and good bat speed at the plate with some pop.
