Entire Event Roster

Today we highlight our catchers; let's take a look:

Catchers

Owen Birkman C / RHP / Williamsville South, NY / 2020

A rare dual threat of behind the plate and on the mound (up to 80 MPH with and up-tempo delivery), Birkman was with us back in early July. Plenty of carry on his throws to 2B, features some lift in his swing. Looking forward to getting another look at him.

Sam Heslin C / 1B / Horseheads, NY / 2019

Balanced approach at the plate with the ability to drive the ball through the middle of the field. Accurate arm behind the dish with a clean release. Pop times hover in the 2.12-2.19 range.

Tyler Coy C / 1B / Canisius, NY / 2020

Future Games and NY Games attendee this summer. Physical frame at 6-foot-2 195 pounds; uses a spread stance with some pop to the gaps. Strong arm behind the dish, up to 79 MPH with pop times in the 2.00-2.03 range.

Max Schmarder C / 3B / Olmsted, NY / 2020

Attended our Campus Series event at Niagara back in early July; features some raw strength behind the plate and in the batter's box. Numbers are there (2.07-2.15 pop time, 88 MPH exit velocity), now we're looking for the polish.

Jack Arnold C / Canisius , NY / 2019

Strong build at 5-foot-11 182 pounds, the right-handed hitting catcher has shown an explosive stroke through the zone with some lift to his pull side at past events. Plenty of arm behind the dish.

Josh Armstrong C / OF / Wayne Central, NY / 2021

First time attendee but received mention in our Summer Scout Blog as an impressive "catch & throw" backstop. The right-handed hitter checks in at 5-foot-11 160 pounds.

Shawn Romanowski C / 3B / Sweet Home, NY / 2020

Another first time attendee who also plays for the Northtown Nationals. Right-handed hitter who is 5-foot-11 170 pounds.

Christopher Champlin C / South Kortright , NY / 2020

Champlin will be making his PBR debut this weekend as well, one of the few players in attendance from the Eastern/Central part of the state. 5-foot-10 160 pound right-handed hitter who also plays for the Catskill Mountain Cougars.
