Player Spotlight: 2020 SS Kobe Stenson (Liverpool HS)

Our "Player Spotlights" will be reserved for any prospect across New York who's abilities on the field have made some noteworthy recent buzz. Possibly a recent event where a Top Performer Spotlight article is just not enough, or maybe a recent commitment to a major program. Whatever it is, I'll (Dan Cevette) be going in-depth on the player spotlighted below with personal insight and honest feedback. Let's get started.

Kobe Stenson SS / Liverpool, NY / 2020

CEVETTE'S QUICK HIT: It only takes one ground-ball hit his way to see the skill-set Stenson has. It's premium, and he's fun to watch. Smooth footwork that translates into clean glove work and a rapid release showing off a strong arm. There's no effort to his game and that's something I love to see.

SCOUTING REPORT: Standing 5-foot-5, 150-pounds with an athletic smaller build, ran a 7.37 60 yard dash and we expect to see that lower come the summer. In the box, slightly open stance, very loose and relaxed, short to the ball, barrel is slightly uphill from a fluid swing plane, gap-to-gap consistent barrel contact, 83 mph exit velocity off a tee. Defensively, one of the top defenders in the 2020 class, slick to the ball with an active lower half, fields out in front from an open glove, moves through his throws throwing from multiple arm-slots at 84 mph with signs of more to come. Fun player to watch.
