Nikolas Malachowski, RHP/SS, Shenedehowa HS, NY (2016)

Malachowski stands 6-foot-1,185-pounds with a pitchers frame and athletic build. On the mound he uses a high knee lift, hands very high by his face, and leans back some on his back side. He drives forward off a slightly bent back leg with shoulder alignment towards homeplate. He throws from a power high ¾ slot with a fastball sitting 81-83 mph with good life. His curveball shows quick hand speed at 73 mph with 11/7 shape with late bite.

SS/Hitting - In the infield he gets to the ball with ease, low effort actions, fields the ball out in front with a fast transfer and throws from a high-¾ slot with 79 arm strength. His size is a plus and his actions are smooth and projectable. At the plate he has a leg lift with small stride and drives his hands and hips to the ball generating powerful bat speed up to 90 mph. He has a long extension after contact and a balanced finish.

Analysis:
Malachowski attended two of our events including our NY Top Prospect games where he performed well both offensively and defensively. At the plate he had a lot of gap to gap pop hitting the ball hard in both BP and his at-bats. On the mound, his fastball has natural action and arm run but still needs to work on finishing his pitches more over his front side to get more extension and depth on the ball. We would love to his his progression this Saturday, Oct 18th in Latham, NY.
