Scouting Report on Van Allen:

Matt Van Allen OF/1B (West Genesee HS, NY 2015)
Van Allen stands a towering 6-foot-3 215-pounds and is big and strong. With the bat he setups with his weight shifted back and uses a leg kick with a stride on the swing. His bat path is on the incline with good extension after contact and a high finish generating plus power and bat speed. His exit velocity was 87 off a tee. In the OF he fields the ball out in front of his body with an average transfer with good carry on the ball to the bag.

Analysis:
Van Allen is a big kid with some athleticism for his size. His bat has some serious next level projection showing signs of plus power potential during batting practice. He moves ok in the OF showing an arm with some carry, but I see him playing first base at the next level. There's no question he can play it's just at what position a certain program will look to develop him. He has been invited to our NYS Top Prospect Games and would shine in that atmosphere.
