The Hotlist: Recent 2016 Standouts

By Nathan Rode and PBR Staff

As the fall season slows down and we look ahead to the winter months, we’ll be making adjustments to the state and overall rankings for each class. First up will be the 2016 class. To whet your appetite, here are some seniors that have stood out recently and should make a climb in the updated rankings.

Garrett Acton, RHP, Lemont HS, IL
Standing at 6-foot-1, 200 pounds, Acton shows a power repertoire and sat 88-91 at the World Wood Bat Championship in Jupiter, FL, while striking out six in a two-inning stint. He did so less than a week after his father passed away. He pitches with smooth rhythm and his lower half stays in line with the plate. He gets good momentum down the mound. Acton has shown improved feel for a slider in the mid 70s. He also has feel for a changeup with sinking action.
