Tim Hunter
VP of Operations

It was a historic preseason here in New York with our boots-on-the-ground scouting staff covering 700+ players at showcase events, all February long. The dust has settled and we are now ramping up our efforts in player rankings, scouting reports, and recap articles. While the outcome of the 2020 HS season is on hold, the Prep Baseball Report (NY) will continue to provide unrivaled coverage for the amateur baseball players in the Empire State.

As we continue our follow up of the Preseason Tour, we will be highlighting "Top Performer Spotlights" on players who recently stood-out at our preseason events. Stay tuned with us for the latest information on the 2020 spring season and beyond.

Scouting Report

Physical: 6-1, 187-pounds. Long, lean frame that can add more weight. 7.3 runner in the 60; 4.21 home-to-1B.
Offensively: LHH. Upright, open stance, some movement in hands before loading them back along with a small leg kick for timing. Plus bat speed, fast hands, barrel clears the zone quickly, swing works uphill on finish, good use of the lower half. Hard line drives to the pull side gap. 93 MPH raw exit velocity.
Defensively: Consistent footwork fielding the ball slightly off-center on his glove foot, gets rid of the ball quickly. Short arm swing with a low 3/4 arm slot.  INF - 84 MPH.

Standout Skill
To me, his hitting stood out. The power he was able to force on the ball (93mph exit velo) and not to mention he's still developing so there's still more in the tank as he moves forward with his career. He has quick bat whip through the zone, head stays down on the ball and doesn't pull off, and gets his lower half involved. If there was one thing to critique, I would say to watch the amount of movement in his hands. I feel like it messes up his timing occasionally and that's something to become more consistent with. Overall you're looking at a strong LHH stick in the middle of the lineup able to drive in runs.
Player Projection
With Fasciglione being as tall, and only going to continue to grow, I see him more as a corner 3B. He has solid glove work, active feet to get around the ball, and a strong arm. With plus power coming from his bat I think being at 3rd is more reasonable.

Quick Hit
"Big, athletic, physical build of a player, and even has some room to add more weight to him as he makes more gains. LHH with quick bat speed through the zone, tends to work middle/pull side with plus power in the gap. MIF. Shows some plus glove work with a fast twitch arm action."
