2016 Spring Team Preview: Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy Eagles

Team Name: Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy Eagles
Head Coach: Nick Rosenfeldt
Division: III
2015 Record: 26-4
Conference Record: MVC-Scarlet, 13-0
Returning Starters/Pitchers: 6/4

2016 Team Strengths:

  • Experience and Senior Leadership
  • Team Defense & Fundamental Play
  • High Baseball IQ
  • Strong Pitching Staff
  • Emerging SO class & largest FR class in team history

2016 Team Weaknesses:

  • Loss of staff ace & SR captain
  • Will need to replace four-year starter at SS and two-year corner outfielders
  • Reliance on some younger players to fill varsity roles

Coach Outlook: With six senior starters, CHCA feels confident it will again contend at a very high level in 2016. Returning four, three-year varsity starters from the 2014 state runner-up team as well as emerging young players looking for their first varsity experience, CHCA will have a good blend of experience and youth. Georgia Tech commit Chase Murray will lead the Eagles in his senior season, followed by Dayton (football) commit and RHP Johnny Noyen, C Jon Edelmann, 1B Nick Harker, SS Bernie Tippen and P David Jung. CHCA plans to continue its high level of play and hopes to challenge the D-III field once again for an appearance in Columbus.

PBR Outlook:  The Eagles have become a perennial power in Division III and the 2016 team looks to follow in that mold. With six starters returning, including Georgia Tech commit Chase Murray, look for CHCA to be heard throughout the season.
