Andy Miller, SS/3B/2B, Hiland, 2019
Scouting Report: 5-foot-9, 170-pound athletic, projectable frame. Currently ranked no. 53 overall in Ohio’s class of 2019. Showcased really well at shortstop with athletic footwork, playing through the baseball with clean exchange and good arm strength. Reached a top velocity of 85 mph across the infield. Looked good in the outfield as well reaching the same velocity. The right-handed hitter has obvious bat speed. Starts his swing from an open stance striding back to being even. Hands stay mostly quiet and get to a good launch position. Showed the ability to hit the baseball to both sides of the field during his round of batting practice. Recorded a top exit velocity of 87 mph and ran a 6.84 60-yard dash.

Ben Lefebvre, UTIL, Hoban, 2018
Scouting Report:
5-foot-8, 130-pound thin, projectable body frame. He was the designated hitter and hit in the leadoff spot. A left-handed hitter who has game changing type running speed. Left-handed hitter starts his swing from a balanced stance and has a fluid load with his hands moving to his back shoulder. Showed the ability to hit the ball to both sides of the field. He went 2-3 in the game with a single to left field, infield single to third base, walk, two stolen bases, and an RBI. Also caught an at bat from a game he played in earlier in the day when he legged out another infield single to the shortstop. Was recently timed at the Ohio Elite Showcase at a 6.62 60-yard dash.

Drew Wilkinson, MIF/OF, Walsh Jesuit, 2018
Scouting Report: 5-foot-8, 150-pound thinner, projectable body frame. Played second base and hit second in the lineup. The second baseman has a good feel for the position. Has good footwork and plays through the baseball. Showed a very quick exchange while turning a double play. Right-handed hitter starts from a slightly open stance getting himself squared back up to even before he swings. Has a fluid load with his lower half loading into his back leg, then incorporates a leg kick into his swing before finishing with a two-handed follow through. Squared up the baseball during game play. He hit a single to right field, lined out to center field, lined out to right field, and recorded two RBI’s in the contest. Also saw an at bat from the first game he played in during the day when he hit an RBI single to center field.

Team Ohio Pro Select

Joe Capretta, C, Aurora, 2018
Scouting Report: Joe is a late bloomer behind the dish for Team Ohio. The two-sport player (hockey) is coming into his own as one of the top defensive catchers in the state. The 5’10” catcher is very active behind the plate, moving quickly on bunts and plays in front and behind the plate. His feet work really well as he learns the position full time. His ability to catch and throw is among the best I’ve seen as he is typically between 1.9 - 2.0 to second base. He has thrown out top base runners from top teams all across the country and is still learning his craft. Once he gets a consistent feel for his transfer he will be even better. Throwing behind runners at first is now another part of his game he excels. Offensively he continues to get better, at driving fastballs, recently getting big go-ahead line drive hits against GRB Rays at Grand Park and 643 DP at top Gun. Joe has turned himself into a D1 catcher who will continue to get better. Coaches with roster spots should take a look.

Northwood commit. He had a controlled tempo and showed the ability to repeat his delivery. Fastball sits 81-84 mph with sinking action. His slider sits 74-76 mph with late 10/4 action and stayed low in the strike zone. His changeup sat 77-78 mph with sink and was thrown with fastball arm speed.

Lima Locos Express

Owen Recker, RHP, Kalida, 2019
Scouting Report: 6-foot-2, 212-pound athletic build. The 2019 grad can already light up a radar gun. He sat at 91-92 for about 10-15 pitches before settling in at 85-89 for the rest of his outing. Recker has more than just a plus fastball in his repertoire. All of his pitches generated weak contact as well as swing and misses throughout the outing. His curveball has an 11-5 trajectory with some serious bite. The pitch displayed heavy rotation. A serious name to watch in the class of 2019.

Arm strength looked to be good enough to stay at shortstop. Right-handed hitter starts from an open stance getting himself squared back up to even before he swings. Ed Santa Showcase - Scouting Notes

Position Players

Brandon Kline, OF/RHP, Canon-McMillan, 2018
Scouting Report: 5-foot-9, 160-pound athletic, projectable frame. Currently ranked no. 145 in Pennsylvania’s class of 2018. Outfielder has good footwork at the position and offers arm strength with a top velocity recorded at 84 mph. Also showcased well in the infield having good footwork while playing through the baseball. He ran a 6.90 clocked 60-yard dash and recorded a top exit velocity of 91 mph from the right-side of the plate. On the mound he throws with easy effort to his delivery. Does a good job of incorporating his lower half with a good hip load. Lands in a straight line at foot strike with his momentum carrying toward home plate. Throws with a little bit of a shorter arm action with quickness to his arm speed through a ¾ slot. The fastball was thrown between 81-85 mph. His curveball has signs of sharpness to it on this occasion on an 11/5 plane. Slider has good sharp break with a tighter shape than his curveball and the breaking pitches were thrown between 70-71 mph. Threw his changeup near fastball arm speed at 69-70 mph.

Mashfactory Elite 17U

Phillip Glasser, MIF, Tallmadge HS, 2018
Scouting Report: 6-foot, 170-pound athletic shortstop. He can really swing it from the left side. His hands are very quick at the plate and smooth defensively. His arm motion is a little strange from short, but he continues to get the job done making all of the plays. At the plate, he refuses to get cheated. He showed great plate discipline by getting into favorable counts and driving the pitches he liked. In the semifinals against Force Ohio, he went 2-4 with a double, triple and 5 RBIs to send his team to the championship.

LAKE ERIE WARHAWKS-ABRAHAMOWICZ 16U

Austin Urban, SS/RHP, Firelands, 2019
Scouting Report: Young looking 5-foot-11, 145-pound projectable body frame. The young righty won’t flash big numbers on the gun at this point but he projects nicely and currently has a high level of pitchability, which a great place to begin. Threw an impressive six innings of one-hit baseball against a team who consisted of all 2018 grads. His fastball was sitting 74-76 mph and touched 77 mph. Mixed in his curveball that has mostly gradual break at this point but projects because it has good depth to it at 64-65 mph.

COLUMBUS COBRAS 16U

Cam Hubble, C, Westerville Central, 2019
Scouting Report: 6-foot-2, 180-pound stronger looking, athletic frame. In two games he caught, played the outfield, and hit second in the lineup. Squared up the baseball in 4 out of his 6 at bats. He went 3-6 with three singles and an RBI. The right-handed hitter showed the ability to use both sides of the field, also sit back and drive a breaking ball. The catcher does a nice job behind the plate and registered pop times of 2.09-2.12 in between innings with good arm strength, especially for his age.

6.13.17 Crossroads Baseball Series Showcase

By: Sam Fredette
PBR Ohio Scout/Intern

Cole Andrews, C, Bishop Watterson, 2018
Scouting Report:
The 2018 grad from Watterson was a standout from behind the plate. 5-11, 190-pounds, strong, athletic frame. From the crouch, Andrews recorded pop times in the 1.90-1.95 range. Fluid footwork, quick exchange, and improved accuracy from previous showcase exposures. At the plate, starts from a slightly open, narrow stance with an early load. Upon impact, body is where it needs to be. Proper stride length and great bat whip through the zone. In game, showed tendencies of getting ahead of pitches, resulting in foul balls and/or rolling over of the hands. Will improve timing with age and slightly better pitch recognition. Most definitely a prospect to keep watch of going into his senior year.

MBC WILDCATS 18U

Donte Regalbuto, RHP/3B/C, Mayfield, 2018
Scouting Report:
5-foot-10, 190-pound strong, athletic build. Hit third in the lineup and had the catching duties. From behind the plate he threw out a baserunner attempting to steal second base with a 2.26 pop time. Right-handed hitter showed some strength in his swing. He starts his stance with his weight slightly more toward his back leg, using a fluid trigger with his hands moving toward his back shoulder. Swings the bat hard, and doesn’t get cheated. He went 0-3 on the day flying out to the shortstop, flying out to center field, and struck out on a breaking ball.

5.29.17 14U - Top Prospects

By: Jordan Chiero
PBR Ohio Director of Scouting

Top Prospects: Olentangy Stix

Jace Middleton, RHP/CF
Scouting Report: An impressively built prospect with a 6-foot-3, muscular frame. A left-handed bat with a very high ceiling at the plate. Path is level and he swings with intent. Showed advanced bat speed and strength through contact. The ball looks different coming off his bat. Reportedly he is also very impressive on the mound but he did not throw Saturday. Has some rawness to him mechanically but tools wise he was the one of if not the most impressive prospect in the tournament. Didn’t throw in this tournament but reportedly has a bright future on the mound as well.
