2019 OHSAA State Tournament - Top Uncommitted Prospects By Class

Sebastian Gongora 1B / LHP / C-J, OH / 2020

Report: 6-4, 185-pound L/L two-way prospect. Thin, athletic build with long levers. Showed good command of all three of his pitches to both sides of the plate. Really filled up the zone aggressively. One of the top two-way prospects in the state batted out of the cleanup spot while also getting the win on the mound in the state championship game.

Austin Brown LHP / Minster, OH / 2020

Report: 6-4, 190-pound southpaw with thin, projectable frame. Throws from a high ¾ arm slot with a loose arm action. Athletic lower half and throws with good intent. High follow in the 2020 class. Much more velocity left in the tank with added strength.

Nick Fletcher RHP / OF / St. Ignatius, OH / 2020

Report: The 6-1, 200-pounnd right-handed pitcher was the unsung hero for the eventual D-I state champion Wildcats. Projectable frame. Up tempo pace to his delivery while using regular effort. Pitches with swagger. The righty came in relief in the semifinal, keeping the game tied for five straight innings, in extra innings. If he allowed just one run in any of his innings, they would've lost. Impressive performance by the junior.

Austin Fawley RHP / OF / Springboro, OH / 2020

Report: The 5-11, 150-pounnd right-handed pitcher came in relief for Springboro and did his job, allowing just one batter to reach base while striking out one.

AJ Clegg RHP / OF / Toronto, OH / 2020

Report: 5-11, 175-pound right-handed pitching prospect got the win in the state semifinal game for the Red Knights. Showed pitchability while throwing out of a 3/4 slot with regular action.

Noah Miller 1B / LHP / Coldwater, OH / 2020

Report: 6-4, 220-pound athletic first basemen for the D-III state champion Cavaliers. Physical lefty swinger with raw power in there. Nice, balanced swing with a level path through the zone. Defensively shows soft hands at first with good footwork.

Andrew Witte SS / 2B / Mentor, OH / 2020

Report: 5-10, 165-pound right-handed hitter that starts in a balanced setup. Uses a leg lift for timing while keeping hands simple prior to launch. A balanced swinger with a level path. More strength than speed through the zone presently. Ball jumps well, showing gap pop with some loft power to pull side. Middle of the lineup type.

Tyler Bullock 3B / RHP / Roger Bacon, OH / 2020

Report: 6-2, 220-pound physical frame. Strong lower half. Ball jumps off bat. Starts with balance slightly favoring backside in his swing. Transfers weight well through contact. Hands move in easy, fluid load taking uphill path to the ball. Middle of the order type bat with pull power. Good feel for 3B, soft hands and quick feet with an above average arm across the diamond.

Carsten Betson C / Hillsdale, OH / 2020

Report: 5-10, 165-pound catcher. Athletic kid that checks all the boxes. Very impressed with him defensively. Above average arm behind the dish. At the plate, starts with balanced stance. Uses a knee pinch to get lower half initiated while using a small back load to hands.Well-rounded skill set.

Game Stats: 0-4, 1 R, 1 BB, threw out one runner

Lucas Gulczynski OF / C / Toronto, OH / 2020

Report: 6-2, 195-pound physical prospect with raw tools. Swing has intent and more than enough tools to do damage. Ball jumps, easy gap pop. Fits in the middle of the lineup. In the outfield he plays fast too and through.

Jacob Savina RHP / SS / Antwerp, OH / 2020

Report: 6-0, 175-pound right-handed hitting SS/RHP. Athletic build. Short to the ball with his swing. Didn't pitch in the contest, but sits 80-81 mph on the bump with a nice curveball.

Matt Christopher 2B / SS / Gilmour Academy, OH / 2020

Report: 5-foot-11, 165-pound athletic frame. Right-handed hitter that starts in a balanced, open stance. Leg kick timing trigger with slight back load to hands. Smooth, efficient stroke that runs into the ball often. Impressive feel for contact, showing the ability to manipulate the barrel late to make consistent flush contact.

Game Stats: 1-5, 1 R, 3 assists

Briar Funk 3B / Hillsdale, OH / 2020

Report: 6-1, 190-pound junior. Cleanup hitter for the state runner-up. Produced the hardest hit ball off of Toronto's hard-throwing RHP Nate Karaffa.

Keaton Brown OF / RHP / Van Wert, OH / 2020

Report: 6-foot-2, 152-pound right-handed hitting outfielder. A prospect I like. At the plate he starts in a balanced setup before getting into a fluid, efficient load. Balanced launch with a nice, easy swing through the nice. Impressive feel for the barrel. Already offers above average natural tools through the zone and should see even more juice/batspeed as he fills out projectable frame. In the outfield he offers a corner frame/skill set. Fluid feet with a nice, one-handed play through. Ball skills are there and he showed a slightly above average arm to home plate.

AJ Solomon 2B / OF / Chaminade Julienne, OH / 2021

Report: 5-9, 150-pound left-handed hitter with a compact, level swing through the zone. Athletic with quick twitch actions. Hit out of the leadoff spot while making all the plays in the field as well. One of the most athletic prospects regardless of class.

Austin Lichty RHP / 3B / Antwerp, OH / 2021

Report: 6-1. 160-pound two-way prospect. Hit out of the two-hole and started for Antwerp in the state semifinal. Was the tough luck loser in the final, allowing the only three earned runs he gave up all year long.

Paxton Schwandt C / SS / Hilliard Darby, OH / 2021

Report: 6-foot-1, 160-pounds. Lean, athletic frame. Bats with a more narrow, balanced stance that gets to a nice load. Hand speed has quickness leads to a smooth swing with a slight uphill bat path. Glove has clean action. Solid defender.

Myles Blasingame 3B / SS / Coldwater, OH / 2021

Report: 6-1, 190-pound right-handed hitter. Hits out of the two-hole for the state champion Cavaliers. Good athlete and one to watch over the next couple of years.

Dylan Hines 3B / Antwerp, OH / 2021

Report: 5-10, 160-pound athletic frame. Quick through the zone with the barrel. Shows some pop in the bat. In the infield he attacks the baseball off the bat well, showing the ability to create angles prior to fielding. Above average ball skills with good lateral mobility. Good young bat to follow.

Zack McKibben OF / Coldwater, OH / 2021

Report: Smaller frame but uber-athletic. Quick hands at the plate. Uses all fields well. Defensively, gets good jumps in the outfield. Athletic prospect to keep an eye on.

Noah Gladish OF / Mentor, OH / 2021

Report: Leadoff batter for the Division I State runner-up Cardinals. Stays inside the ball at the plate with quick hands. Centerfielder who made all the plays in the outfield.

Hal Walker Jr 1B / 3B / Mentor, OH / 2021

Report: 5-hole hitter for the Division I State runner-up Cardinals. Strong hands and level swing. Good glove at first base with solid footwork.

Evan Webb OF / RHP / Roger Bacon, OH / 2021

Report: 5-foot-11 190-pound prospect. Throws from a higher ¾ arm slot with a choppy, funky rhythm to his delivery. Average feel and command for his three pitch mix. Offensively,  hits from a balanced stance with a shorter, compact swing process. Level bat bat produced that goes straight to the ball.

Luke Krouse LHP / OF / Antwerp, OH / 2022

Report: 6-0, 170-pound impressive looking two-way freshman. You can certainly see why the southpaw is ranked top five in the Class of 2022 rankings, as he looks the part on the mound and at the plate. On the mound, the arm is super loose/whippy with clean actions. Velo will continue to rise as he matures. Throws three pitches with confidence from a 3/4 slot. At the plate, the hit tool is impressive as well. Swings it from the left side. Uses a slight toe-tap for his timing mechanism. The barrel gets through the zone with ease. Good extension after contact. Uses his lower half as really well. Athletic actions at the plate. Get out to see this two-way prospect!

Gabriel Nard SS / RHP / St. Ignatius, OH / 2022

Report: What a performance for the 5-10, 160-pound right-handed pitcher. Coming into the came, the righty had only 3.2 innings pitched on varsity, but didn't show it as the talented freshman allowed just one hit in 4.2 innings.

Gabe Tingle OF / Ridgewood, OH / 2022

Report: 5-10, 150-pound impressive looking left-handed hitting freshman for the D-III state runner-up. Good looking swing and athleticism. One to keep an eye on over the next few years.

Report: Hitting out of the 7-hole, this freshman showed quick hands at the plate with a good looking swing.
