2019 OHSAA Tournament: Regional Preview - Division II

***** Email has been sent out to every head coach, that we have contact information for, who has made regionals and once we get all the information in, we will get out HUGE 64-team Regional Preview online. If you don't see your info, please send to [email protected]

We will add information for the teams that have not sent information into us on Wednesday, by doing research via newspaper articles.

We are holding a fan vote via twitter that will end Wednesday night and we will add those results below after the vote is completed.

Coach's Thoughts:

PBR: What are a couple of things you like about your team right now?
Coach: What I like about our team now is that we have confidence and we don’t panic if we’re in a tight game or down. Our defense and pitching have been solid all season and we don’t always score a lot of runs, but we work counts and find ways to manufacture runs when we aren’t hitting well.

PBR: Talk about the feeling when your team won districts?
Coach: Winning Districts was a big relief. I saw a lot of higher seeded teams getting knocked out early on this year and made sure our guys didn’t take any game lightly.

PBR: Thoughts about being able to play in the regionals?
Coach: Getting back to Regionals is very exciting. This is the most fun time of the season and being able to get back here 3 years in a row is a testament to our players and Coaches determination.

PBR: Thoughts on the four-team field at the regional?
Coach: This is an interesting field this year. I’m familiar with Ross because of their recent success and multiple Regional appearances also. But we haven’t faced them in over 10 years. Franklin won their league this year and had some strong wins in tournament and they have some good arms. Granville is a little farther away so I’m not familiar with them. I know they came out of a very strong District though from playing those teams in the past.

Coach's Thoughts:

PBR: What are a couple of things you like about your team right now?
Coach: Currently our team is playing with a lot of confidence, the competition in our league and our non-league schedule has allowed us to prepare for tournament baseball. We have battled some injuries this year and developed a next man up attitude.

PBR: Talk about the feeling when your team won districts?
Coach: Winning a district championship was an unbelievable feeling, first time in  6 years for our school and with it being my first as head coach it was an unreal atmosphere.

PBR: Thoughts about being able to play in the regionals?
Coach: Our team and program is excited to represent our great school district and community in the regional semifinals.

PBR: Thoughts on the four-team field at the regional?
Coach: At this point in the tournament you are obviously in for some tough competition, but we believe with our current confidence level and playing our best baseball we look forward to playing anybody.

Coach's Thoughts:

PBR: What are a couple of things you like about your team right now?
Coach: Right now our pitching is giving us every opportunity to win ball games. They are keeping runs off the board and letting our offense fight for a couple. The team has bought in to “doing their jobs” and staying focus for 7 innings.

PBR: Talk about the feeling when your team won districts?
Coach: This is our third straight district title and coming into this season it was definitely a goal of this team to compete at this level. Seeing all of the boys hard work and commitment pay off is a feeling like no other. I, as a coach, am very proud of this bunch of young men.

PBR: Thoughts about being able to play in the regionals?
Coach: Playing in a regional semis game once again is an awesome accomplishment for this team. To know that only 16 D2 teams remain in the state and we are one of them is an awesome feeling.

PBR: Thoughts on the four-team field at the regional?
Coach: The four teams in our regional are obviously very good ball teams. Everyone who has made it this far does the little things right. That's a testament to each of the four programs and their coaching staffs. No one gets this far purely on luck. From here on out every game is a dog fight between really good baseball teams and whoever can execute better will most likely come out on top.

PBR: Anything else you would like to add?
Coach: I want to take the time to thank the Ross community for its support of our team and program. It’s an awesome feeling to have such a great community behind us.

Coach's Thoughts:

PBR: What are a couple of things you like about your team right now?
Coach: I like the way we are competing and playing our best baseball of the season at the right time.

PBR: Talk about the feeling when your team won districts?
Coach: It was surreal, we jumped out early and it took a lot of pressure off of us, but it was an awesome feeling taking my alma mater back to somewhere that I never got a chance to get to in high school. We have a few guys on our staff who have played in a regional final and coached in multiple regionals so it was great to be able experience one myself.

PBR: Thoughts about being able to play in the regionals?
Coach: We are excited for the opportunity and excited to get to extend the season another week.

PBR: Thoughts on the four-team field at the regional?
Coach: I can't speak on Granville as I have never seen them play, but coming out of Columbus is always a big feat beating the privates up there just shows how good they are, our trips to regional in 2009 and 2010 ended to the team out of Columbus Desales in 2009 and Alder in 2010. CJ speaks for themselves back to back state finals, and the defending champs. Ross is always a talented club, they play in a tough conference and ran the table and have been to the regional the past three years, the consistency of Ross and CJ being competitive year after year is what any school strives for.

PBR: Anything else you would like to add?
Coach: I just want to thank our community for their support on this run, Franklin has the best fans around, we are excited to get to play in front of them again. We are excited and can't wait to compete on Thursday.
