Vs Team Pennsylvania

Pitching Notes

Nik Copenhaver RHP / 1B / Badin, OH / 2023

Report: High follow who really put himself on the radar. 6-foot-4, loose-armed righty with an easier delivery Showed the ability to mix fastball/slider effectively with seemingly more velo to come. Tossed two scoreless for Team Ohio. Starter profile.

FB: 85-86, 1952-2076rpm
SL: 72-74, 1950-2092rpm

Noah LaFine RHP / OF / Archbishop Hoban, OH / 2024

Report: Impressing with pitchability to go along with his elite stuff for class. Up to 88 w/a splitter that when on falls off the table and a slider w/some depth. One of the “wow” performances for Ohio on the weekend, positioning himself as a potential national level recruit.

FB: 85-88mph, 1800-2100rpm
SL: 77-78mph, 2100-2200rpm
Split: 80-81mph

Nate Shaw RHP / OF / Canfield, OH / 2022

Report: Tosses two scoreless frames showing feel for all three offerings. Physical presence on the bump who has a chance to be a starter at the next level. Up to 86 mph with more in the tank and both breaking ball and changeup are above average offerings.

FB: 84-86mph, up to 2380rpms
CB: 73-74mph, up to 2421rpms
CH: 80-81mph

Drew Graham LHP / 1B / Avon Lake, OH / 2024

Report: The youngest player on the Team Ohio roster and possibly the youngest player Ohio has ever taken to the Future Games couldn’t have been tossed into a bigger moment and he handled it like a pro. Got the save and secured the 4-3 win over Pennsylvania. Clean, loose arm with pitchability/quality stuff. Unlimited ceiling here. May ended up being the most heavily recruited prospect of the event.

FB: 83-85 mph,  2000-2200rpm
CB: 69-70 mph, 1890-2000rpm
CH: 71-74 mph.

Position Player Notes

Caden Crawford 1B / OF / Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy, OH / 2022

Report: A beast physically who turned heads in the workout by showing a 104mph+ exit velocity in BP, while leaving the yard multiple times. In game one he had multiple quality bats and the ball he squared up to RF put Team Ohio ahead, plating two.

Nathan Manley C / 3B / Moeller, OH / 2023

Report: Showed well at the plate but where he really stood out was behind the dish. Manley proved to be one of the top catch/throw guys at the entire event. A confident, aggressive thrower that is always looking to toss someone out. Threw out multiple baserunners in big moments. Dude can really defend behind the dish.

Mason Eckelman C / 2B / Walsh Jesuit, OH / 2023

Report: Got the scoring started for Team Ohio, lacing a ball down the LF line. Another guy who showed his toughness while playing a much less than 100% after taking a barrel to the forearm when he was behind the dish. A heavily recruited talent that is one of the state’s top bats and stock is on the rise big time as defender behind the dish.

MVP of the game vs Team Pennsylvania

Co MVPS Noah Lafine/Drew Graham. The two youngins both showed not only advanced stuff but impressive composure considering the moment/their youth. Lafine tossed two scoreless and Graham got the save. I’m sure both of their phones have stopped ringing after those performances.

Noah LaFine RHP / OF / Archbishop Hoban, OH / 2024

Game 2 vs Michigan

Pitching Notes

Quinn Benner RHP / OF / Mariemont, OH / 2022

Report: I’m starting to become more and more of a fan of Quinn Benner. Love the combination of stuff, confidence, and the way he attacks hitters in the zone. As sharp of an outing as you can ask for, allowing zero base runners in two innings while striking out two. Mixing all three pitches well.

FB: 85-87mph, 1900-2100rpm
CB: 67-68mph, 1600-1700rpm
CH: 69-71mph

Caden Robinson RHP / OF / New Albany, OH / 2022

Report: Some of the more electric stuff/faster arms we saw from the Team Ohio staff. Fastball is heavy and the breaker had late, sharp action. Also mixes in a playable changeup. As he settled in and started to mix in his entire repertoire he was very effective. Scouts will be drawn to combination of stuff and athleticism.

FB: 87-90mph, 1800-2100rpm
CB: 75-77mph, 1920-1950rpm
CH: 80-81mph

Tommy Skelding RHP / SS / Marlington, OH / 2023

Report: One of more highly recruited arms in the states’ 2023 class. High spin guy with more velo to come and impressive feel for spin. Velocity plays up due to the ability to mix the breaker in often. Talented prospect here.

FB: 84-86mph, 2200-2400rpm
CB: 71-74mph, 2100-2300rpm
CH: 76-77mph

Marshall Shepherd RHP / 3B / Shelby, OH / 2022

Report: The 6-foot-1, 180-pound prospect showed quality stuff in the zone. Up to 85mph on this day (87mph last week) with a hammer of a breaking ball. High spin guy on both offerings. Another arm you can expect another velo jump from and his ability to really spin it make him a must see for college coaches.

FB: 82-85mph, 2200-2300rpm
CB: 67-69MPH, 2200-2300rpm

Jackson Campbell RHP / OF / Cincinnati Country Day, OH / 2022

Report: Although there were some command issues on the day he showed the athleticism/velo ceiling that earned him his invitation. Very good mover who has a higher velocity ceiling. Breaking ball was very sharp at times as well. Above average spin rate guy on all offerings.

FB: 82-85mph, 1900-2100rpm
CB: 68-71mph, 1900-2200rpm
CH: 78-79mph

Position Players Notes

Connor Walendzak OF / SS / Perrysburg, OH / 2023

Report: A guy who made hard contact all week for Team Ohio. Against Michigan he singled through the left side and also reached on a catcher interference call. Also looked the part in the outfield, making a diving play. One of the top in game players in the state who improved his stock big time throughout the three days.

Billy Adams SS / 2B / St Ignatius, OH / 2022

Report: Enter Analysis HereIn a game where hits were hard to find, Adams had one of the few knocks for Ohio that also plated a run. Impressed all weekend in general for his ability to work at bats. Also made several very difficult plays over at second base. Talented, grinder type player who has a very well-rounded skill set.

MVP of the game vs Team Michigan

Quinn Benner RHP / OF / Mariemont, OH / 2022

Report: On a day where things just weren’t going Team Ohio’s way, Benner was one of the bright spots. Benner got the start on the hill for Team Ohio and went six up, six down against a very formidable Michigan lineup.

I’m starting to become more and more of a fan of Quinn Benner. Love the combination of stuff, confidence, and the way he attacks hitters in the zone. As sharp of an outing as you can ask for, allowing zero base runners in two innings while striking out two. Mixing all three pitches well.
