2021 Junior Future Games: Team Ohio - Top Performers
Team Ohio went down to Georgia and showed out amongst some of the top uncommitted prospects in the nation. Both Team OH 14u squads were filled with a ton of promising young prospects, who will have great success in the coming years. Both teams improved each game and took the coaching suggestions we offered with open ears.
Overall MVP
Ashton Martin SS / RHP / Jonathan Alder, OH / 2025Report: The 2025 MIF/RHP had a very solid showing this week in Georgia. Well above average ball skills in the field for age, to go along with a solid plate performance. Martin was 5-6 on the week with 2 doubles. He also was called upon to pitch when Team Ohio was down 8-0. He attacked the challenge and went out on the mound and helped stop the bleeding. Overall, Martin was able to put his athleticism on display and plays with a good mix of confidence and swagger between the lines. |
Best Pitching Performance
Preston Zumwalt SS / 2B / Tippecanoe, OH / 2025Report: In game 3 for Team OH (1) Preston Zumwalt received the ball for the start. He went 4 strong innings only giving up 1 run and would have gone longer if it were an actual game. Showcased a solid two-pitch mix that kept hitters off balance. |
Cooper Gilkerson RHP / 3B / Hilliard Darby, OH / 2025Report: Cooper Gilkerson received the ball for Team OH (1) in game two. Although it may not show in the scorebook, Gilkerson had one of the better pitching performances. Gilkerson has some of the highest upside on the mound, running the fastball up to 81mph to go along with an above average breaker and developing CH. |
Best In Game Hitting Performance
Ashton Martin SS / RHP / Jonathan Alder, OH / 2025Report: Ashton Martin had the hottest bat for Team OH, as he finished going 5-6 with two doubles and several timely hits. |
Stone Fawcett C / 1B / Chardon, OH / 2025Report: Stone Fawcett wasn’t as consistent from a statistics standpoint, but when he connected with a ball it was always LOUD CONTACT. Produced several extra base hits and provided a spark for Team OH when needed. |
Best Workout Day Hitter
Isaac Goldschmidt 3B / RHP / Lasalle, OH / 2025Report: The RHH had one of the better BP rounds for the Junior Future group. Smooth, controlled movements pre-launch with quick hands and explosive bat speed. Was able to put several good swings on balls in the game as well. |
Best In Game Defender
Gavin Winings RHP / OF / Eaton, OH / 2025Report: Winings was a DEER for Team OH (2) in the OF. He was able to make several plays in CF and RF that opened the eyes of the Team OH coaches and others watching. Crisp, clean routes to balls along with a great first step, earned him best In-Game Defender. |
Best Workout Day Defender
Ashton Martin SS / RHP / Jonathan Alder, OH / 2025Report: The 2025 MIF/RHP showcased his athleticism and above average ball skills during the INF workout. He plays fast, with soft hands and confidence between the lines. Athletic footwork, with a good first step. |
Best Base Runner
Griffin Scheiderer SS / RHP / Marysville, OH / 2025Report: Griffin was able to take several bases on the week and showcased above average instincts. Had a great grasp on the hop method, which is rare to see at that age. Was able to get plus jumps when stealing and took extra bases with ease. |
