2021 Ohio Top Prospect Games: Quick Hits - The Bats Were Loud

Parker Corbin SS / C / Cincinnati Country Day, OH / 2024

Report: You could put 2024 UTL Parker Corbin in just about any category you’d want on this list/one of the more complete players in attendance. We’ll throw him underneath the bats because this could be the most improved tools we saw from the top 10 prospect in our freshman class. He showed the typical athleticism/barrel awareness we’ve grown to expect from him with noticeable added physicality. The ball was jumping off his barrel in BP/he was letting it loose without sacrificing that advanced ability to square up the baseball.

Lucas Day 1B / LHP / Troy Christian, OH / 2022

Report: 1B Lucas Day (Troy Christian) had himself a day! It started off with a laser show in BP, producing several barrels in the mid to upper 90s while depositing a few of the right field wall. He then had three extra base hits in game, narrowly missing a bomb off the top of the wall. When he’s on there are few better in the state.

Ben Slanker OF / 1B / Canfield, OH / 2023

Report: It doesn’t take a seasoned scout to see the athletic traits OF Ben Slanker (Canfield) offers in the box. Top 20 player in class who has big, rhythmic movements that create a ton of energy throughout swing sequence from the left side. Once he pulls the trigger the bat speed is there, capable of generating upper 90s exit velocity. Really looks the part in the box. Top 20 prospect in sophomore class.

Collin Sweeney OF / C / Lakota East, OH / 2022

Report: A guy who produces every time we see him is OF Collin Sweeney out of Lakota East HS. Smoother moving lefty with a ton of barrel accuracy. Squared up everything in BP w/natural spin and carried that performance into game where he had a multi hit day. A name college coaches need to look into as he’s one of the better lefty hit tools we have in that class.

A.J. Havrilla 3B / 1B / Canfield, OH / 2023

Report: 2023 CIF AJ Havrilla (Canfield) continues to prove why he’s considered one of the top hit tools in the sophomore class. The combination of tools and aggressive nature make him a must see at bat because you always feel like he’s extra bases waiting to happen. BP was impressive per usual and he had a multi hit day in game, highlighted by an opposite field triple. Run producer profile at the next level.

Ethan Sweat 3B / RHP / Archbishop Moeller, OH / 2023

Report: Two-way prospect in the sophomore class out of Moeller HS, Ethan Sweat was one of the most impressive in-game hitters of the day. Physically imposing bat who took a solid BP then torched balls in game. Multi-hit day while showing the ability to run the gaps off some of the top arms in the state. The combination of bat speed (76mph), physicality and barrel control point to him being a middle of the order type bat who doesn’t have a ton of swing/miss in there.
