2025 Spring Team Preview: Marlington Diamond Dukes

Team Name: Marlington Diamond Dukes
Head Coach: Cody Jones
Division: IV
2024 Record: 10-14
2024 Tourney Finish: Sectional Finals loss to Geneva
Returning Starters/Pitchers: 6/4

Coach Outlook: "We are led by a solid group of seniors that are very close and it shows on the field. We have two top end senior arms at the front of our rotation in senior RHP Sam Yoder and senior LHP Dylan Heatherington that will lead the pitching staff. They give us a chance against anyone when they are on the mound. Beyond those two arms we are going to have some new faces on the mound this year and their ability to acclimate to varsity competition will be a key factor in our success this year. We will be solid behind the plate with 2-3 guys that will likely see time behind the plate at some point throughout the season. We are solid up the middle with our starting SS sophomore Parker Woods returning. We also have good team speed in the outfield to help solidify our defense. We will be able to throw strikes and make routine plays, but the key will be offensive production. We will have to find ways to score runs and we plan to do so by continually putting pressure on the defense and forcing them to make mistakes. We will steal, we will hit & run and we will keep guys moving on the base paths and we will not be afraid to lay a bunt down at any point in the game and at any spot in our order. We have the pitching and defense to compete, so it comes down to finding a way to score runs."
