EMERSON, Ga. - A Prep Baseball Report event that first began in 2011 is now more than a decade old. But the fun and interest received is anything but old when it comes to the Future Games.

This year’s showcase drew raves from so many in attendance watching 32 teams with players from 41 states and five Canadian provinces participating in front of approximately 350 college coaches.

“I'm not positive of the exact number of college coaches, but what stood out to me was how many schools traveled with the maximum number (3) of coaches in attendance,” related Shooter Hunt, vice president of scouting for PBR. “It is usually rare to see major head coaches out on the road, but the Future Games saw a plethora of BIG named head coaches walking around.”

What all coaches at LakePoint witnessed was spectacular - to say the least - during the four-day event.

“I think the overall median level of talent was ultra impressive,” Hunt said. “There was so much to watch on each team throughout the entire roster that I felt like I was missing more than I was seeing. It's what makes the Future Games so special: there is something for every coach to watch for on each team. The staffs that brought multiple coaches were rewarded best because they were likely able to see the most.”

Jordan Chiero, PBR Ohio Director of Scouting, had a lot of great things to say about this year’s event.

“The atmosphere was unbelievable,” Chiero said. “You have 70 to 100 scouts at each game, playing the top talent in the country, and getting a chance to represent our state never gets old.

“Also, the coverage from each state was unbelievable, but more specifically our state blew me away. Between Stef, Eric, Bruce and Dylan our crew goes over and beyond on the coverage side - nothing that Team Ohio does goes undocumented.”

One major change made this year was with the schedules, each team playing different opponents from previous years at the Future Games.

“I LOVED the new schedule, and I think that it helped rejuvenate the kids and staff after a long summer of playing against the same regional talent,” pointed out Hunt. “It was especially evident when the Ohio boys took on Florida. Ohio played like it had something to prove, and with a plethora of SEC and ACC coaches watching, I thought that they made the most of that big stage.”

Ohio pounded out 13 hits in an 11-3 win over Florida in the opener, lost 7-6 to Massachusetts in game two, then defeated Mid-Atlantic in the finale on Saturday.

“I think there are pros and cons to it but overall our guys really enjoyed getting to play against states from all over the country,” Chiero said. “The undeniable benefit is our guys got a chance to play in front of scouts in those areas they wouldn't have if we had the traditional setup.”

Chiero was excited about the performance Team Ohio put on.

“I couldn’t be more proud of the way our guys played,” Chiero related. “Obviously this isn’t about winning, but going 2-1 and being a half inning from 3-0 was a statement from our guys that the talent in Ohio can match up with any state in the country and college coaches have noticed. My phone hasn't stopped ringing since we left.”

There was more that stood out to Chiero about 2022 Team Ohio.

“Not only was this one of the more successful teams we’ve had on the field, but I think this was the best dugout we’ve ever had,” Chiero explained. “Each one of these kids isn’t only a great player but a great human being. The team chemistry was elite from the very first pitch. It felt like this was a team that had been together for years. I’d sign up to coach them any day.”

Hunt saw a lot to like in the team from the Buckeye state.

“During each of Ohio's games, I walked into the dugout to tell Jordan that he had sandbagged me about their roster,” Hunt said. “He was very modest leading up to the event, but every time the team played there were LOUD noises coming off the bat.”

Ohio also showed well in the Junior Future Games.

“In my opinion, this Junior Future Games team rivals the 2022 grad class team we brought up a few years back as the most talented Junior Future Games team we’ve ever had,” Chiero said. “That 2022 grad team had double-digit D-1 guys before it’s all said and done and I think this year's 2026 team has the opportunity to match that. Several 2026s have already received offers and I’d say 50 percent of that roster has phone calls lined up with D-1 schools.”

Hunt feels strongly that those participating, no matter the level, are more than worthy of being part of such a prestigious event.

“Every player at the Future Games has been evaluated by the PBR staff, so their presence alone means that they have next-level talent,” explained Hunt. “Many players had strong, breakout weeks, but even the guys who didn't see in-game success are still likely very much on college coaches' radars. I think it is important for those kids who didn't think that they performed well to understand that it was only four days, and college coaches are evaluating much more than whether or not they produced in that short window.”

A PBR thank you to all that participated and a special thanks to the players on Team Ohio that gave their thoughts about the event (including what schools have been in contact with them since the event):

Hayden Blosser RHP / SS / Avon Lake, OH / 2024

PBR: What were your Future Games highlights?
Getting to be around the guys I compete with in the summer and actually play with them all at once.

PBR: Assess your performance.
I started off nervous but locked in quickly and got out of my inning.

PBR: Give your thoughts on being part of Team Ohio and what stood out.
The culture Ohio brought to Atlanta was amazing. The way these coaches coach and the players play is second to none.

PBR: Touch on the competition you faced at the event.
The competition was tough. Everyone deserved to be there and no one was any slouch. It was awesome to be around that let alone play against it.

The Future Games has helped me already with coaches reaching out a couple days after the event. It’s truly a huge part of the recruitment stage.

I’ve been in contact with Ohio State since the event concluded.

Abe Crall RHP / Western Brown, OH / 2024

PBR: What were your Future Games highlights?
My biggest highlight was getting to meet and hang out with the guys from around the state.

I did alright, but the breaking ball wasn’t there in the first inning so I got hit a little bit and gave up a couple of runs. I ended up finding it in the second and struck out three.

PBR: Give your thoughts on being part of Team Ohio and what stood out.
Being a part of Team Ohio was just a really cool experience, especially having played at LakePoint before.

PBR: Give your thoughts on being part of Team Ohio and what stood out.
I loved being able to represent my state in the biggest event in baseball was very special.

PBR: Touch on the competition you faced at the event.
The competition was very good with a lot of tough outs. Being a year younger than most of the other players, it was tough to fit in but all of those kids were the best in their states so there are no real holes in the lineup.

PBR: How can participating in the Future Games help you in the future?
It can help with just getting looks from other colleges that haven’t seen your talent at all.

PBR: What, if any, college coaches did you talk to at the event or hear from since the event ended?

PBR: Give your thoughts on being part of Team Ohio and what stood out.
It was an honor to be a part of Team Ohio. What stood out to me was the chemistry of the team. We were all clicking by the first game, a lot of the other teams didn't have that.

The competition was unbelievable. It was essentially a bunch of all-star teams from each state, and was very fun to play against.

PBR: What were your Future Games highlights?
My Future Games highlights would definitely be striking out two batters, almost making one fall over.

PBR: Assess your performance.
I think I did well, I got five outs pretty easily but couldn’t get the sixth before giving up three runs.

PBR: Give your thoughts on being part of Team Ohio and what stood out.
Being part of Team Ohio was really fun and almost felt like a family. What stood out to me was the consistent positive vibe of the team no matter what happened.

We faced elite competition at the event. Everyone was upper-80s off the mound and everyone at the plate was a threat to change the score at any point.

Participating in the Future Games can help me in the future by getting my name out there and known to many scouts.

PBR: What, if any, college coaches did you talk to at the event or hear from since the event ended?

The Two-Way Prospects

Conlan Daniel OF / RHP / Moeller, OH / 2024

PBR: What were your Future Games highlights?
My highlights of the Future Games were honestly playing with some new people and instantly having a connection and this imaginary chemistry with these kids I’ve never met.

PBR: Assess your performance.
I’d say my performance was a little less than what I wanted but at the same time I feel I got out of it what I wanted and I'm happy overall.

PBR: Give your thoughts on being part of Team Ohio and what stood out.
The team chemistry was just different like it was almost instant and we all got along so well. Not a single bad player down there and everyone knows that.

PBR: Touch on the competition you faced at the event.
Everyone knows that they are there because they are the best of what is left and they have a chance to compete with everyone else down there.

PBR: What, if any, college coaches did you talk to at the event or hear from since the event ended?
I’ve been offered by NKU and Wright State since the event and have had three other phone calls and two visits set up.

PBR: What were your Future Games highlights?
I pitched two innings vs. Team Massachusetts and had four strikeouts.

PBR: Give your thoughts on being part of Team Ohio and what stood out.
I was very honored to be given the chance to come out for this event, almost a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for most kids. What I think stood out the most about this team is how we all got along. We came together at LakePoint like we've all been on the same baseball team all summer.

PBR: Touch on the competition you faced at the event.
Every kid who is there is very talented and there's a reason they received the invite, so out of the gate you know every kid you see is going to be good. I think this is a great experience because I think it shows you what you need to improve or work on to make it to the next level where competition is great no matter what.

PBR: How can participating in the Future Games help you in the future?
I think being able to participate in the Future Games gave me an opportunity to showcase my talent as a pitcher in front of a very high amount of college scouts. I think that this was a great opportunity for all the kids on Team Ohio to hopefully earn a scholarship.

PBR: What, if any, college coaches did you talk to at the event or hear from since the event ended?
I have been in contact with the University of Purdue before and during the event.

The Catchers

Brady Marshall C / SS / Orrville, OH / 2024

PBR: What were your Future Games highlights?
I would say my highlights were throwing out a few runners and having a two-RBI single down the third-base line to break open the game against Team Mid-Atlantic in our third game.

PBR: Assess your performance.
I think I played good defense this weekend and played hard. I didn’t hit the way I wanted, but just wasn’t aggressive enough early on in the at-bats.

PBR: Give your thoughts on being part of Team Ohio and what stood out.
It was a huge honor to be able to go represent Ohio in the 2022 Future Games and just have a great time meeting a really good group of guys and making new friends.

PBR: Touch on the competition you faced at the event.
The competition that I faced at the event was incredible. Every single arm we faced was elite. We also faced elite players at every position on the field and in the batting orders.

PBR: How can participating in the Future Games help you in the future?
After the Future Games I committed to Kent State University.

Parker McDaniels C / RHP / Olentangy Berlin, OH / 2024

PBR: What were your Future Games highlights?
My Future Games highlights were both me hitting two doubles and hanging out with all the Ohio boys.

PBR: Assess your performance.
I thought I played well. I could have thrown maybe a kid or two more out on the base paths, but I feel I got done what I needed to do to further my recruitment.

PBR: Give your thoughts on being part of Team Ohio and what stood out.
Team Ohio was sweet. It’s always a good time with the coaches we had, and we all knitted well.

PBR: Touch on the competition you faced at the event.
The competition was top notch. It doesn’t get much better than the best uncommitted players from every state.

PBR: How can participating in the Future Games help you in the future?
Hopefully,  the Future Games got me a few offers or even got me in conversation with colleges to help me take my game to the next level.

PBR: What, if any, college coaches did you talk to at the event or hear from since the event ended?
No coaches so far.

The Infielders

Davis Campbell SS / 3B / Cincinnati Country Day, OH / 2024

PBR: What were your Future Games highlights?
My biggest highlights of the Future Games were all when the team was together having a good time. Whether it’s in the dugout cheering on our guys, or back at the house in the pool.

PBR: Assess your performance.
Overall I went 3-for-5 with one strikeout and one ground out. I’d say I played well.

PBR: Give your thoughts on being part of Team Ohio and what stood out.
I was very grateful to be a part of Team Ohio. The things that stood out were that there are a lot of great baseball players outside of your own state and that it’s also a bit of an ego check.

PBR: Touch on the competition you faced at the event.
The competition was great. From dudes effortlessly throwing high-80s or lefties saucing me up, the competition down there is great.

PBR: How can participating in the Future Games help you in the future?
The Future Games for a fact helped me out in the long run. With the number of scouts in attendance, this event got me out there to perform in front of schools that I may never get a chance to play in front of.

PBR: What, if any, college coaches did you talk to at the event or hear from since the event ended?
Going into the Future Games I was only talking with Kent state and going out I am talking with OU (Ohio).  Although I may not be in contact, this event for sure helped with getting my name out there.

PBR: What were your Future Games highlights?
I got to play at the Future Games for the third time. I extremely enjoyed playing alongside some of the best talent in the state and making new friendships that would last a lifetime.

PBR: Assess your performance.
I performed well. I went 3-for-6 at the plate with a walk. In the field, I made some good plays. I started Game One with a first-pitch single and then scored later in the inning, which really set the tone.

PBR: Give your thoughts on being part of Team Ohio and what stood out.
Being a part of Team Ohio is an experience I will never forget. Getting to represent your state at the Future Games is an opportunity like no other. I have been extremely blessed and honored to have had the chance to do it three times.

PBR: Touch on the competition you faced at the event.
The competition at the event was legit. I don't think I saw a fastball under 86 mph. Everyone at the event wants to showcase their skills and get recruited to play at the next level, which makes the atmosphere at the event competitive, yet fun.

PBR: How can participating in the Future Games help you in the future?
Participating in the Future Games gave me the opportunity to showcase my skills in front of 300+ schools and coaches. I was able to put myself out there and give myself a chance of making it to the next step in my baseball career.

PBR: What, if any, college coaches did you talk to at the event or hear from since the event ended?
Unfortunately, I have not been in contact with any schools.

Missouri State, Kent State, Butler, Bowling Green, Pepperdine, Notre Dame and Toledo.

Alex Koelling SS / OF / Mason, OH / 2024

PBR: What were your Future Games highlights?
My Future Games highlights were just having a blast with the guys and getting to experience a crazy event.

I thought that my performance was overall pretty solid. The double I had in the last game against Team Mid-Atlantic really boosted my confidence and play.

PBR: Give your thoughts on being part of Team Ohio and what stood out.
Being a part of Team Ohio was such a great experience because I got to meet many new people and the environment of the event was really what stood out to me.

PBR: Touch on the competition you faced at the event.
I thought that the competition of the event was impressive and that getting to face all of the other states top uncommitted players was really cool.

I think participating in the Future Games is going to help me in the future because it gives me the confidence to see where my development and growth is compared to other top uncommitted guys.

PBR: What, if any, college coaches did you talk to at the event or hear from since the event ended?
I’ve been in contact with several coaches. Since the event happened I’ve gotten to get on the phone with a couple of more schools that I hadn’t talked to yet which has been really cool for me.

Brady Rollyson SS / RHP / Uniontown Green, OH / 2024

PBR: What were your Future Games highlights?
My highlights were that I had beat my previous best 60 time by a large amount. I thought my speed caught the eyes of college coaches for how big I am. I also had the second-highest vertical jump on the team at 33”.

PBR: Assess your performance.
I thought I did pretty well. I went 2-for-6 and hit the ball hard in most of my at-bats. I also stole a couple bases and was able to show off my speed. I made a couple nice plays up the middle as well.

PBR: Give your thoughts on being part of Team Ohio and what stood out.
I thought being a part of Team Ohio was a great experience. We had a ton of talent, and we played to win. I had a lot of fun being around the good competition and the atmosphere was amazing. What stood out about Team Ohio was our energy. We were always picking each other up and hyping the other guys up and it was a great culture down there.

PBR: Touch on the competition you faced at the event.
Like I said before, the competition was great. Everyone could swing it, and all the pitchers were upper-80s, some in the low-90s. It made the game more challenging and it was a lot more fun to be around high-level competition.

PBR: How can participating in the Future Games help you in the future?
The Future Games were filled with college scouts watching every game. Even during the BP session of the showcase there were scouts watching behind home plate. It’s a great opportunity to get your name out there even further and get recruited by top-tier schools that were in attendance at the Future Games.

PBR: What, if any, college coaches did you talk to at the event or hear from since the event ended?
I was in contact with Ohio State during the event, and in contact with Purdue and Oakland after the event ended.

PBR: Assess your performance.
I thought my performance down there was pretty good. I got on base three times consisting of a double, and a base knock. I didn’t get much action in the field but when I did, I did all I could to make the play. I can always learn and perform better in my next outing.

Being a part of Team Ohio was a phenomenal experience. So many players with great talent all around. Getting to be a part of that talent alone uplifts me.
