2021 Spring Team Preview: Anthony Wayne Generals

Team Name: Anthony Wayne Generals
Head Coach: Mark Nell
Division: I
2019 Record: 20-10
Returning Starters/Pitchers: 6/3

2021 Team Strengths:

  • We will find out. A lot of unknown for everyone with this question. We expect our players to represent our school well, demonstrate positive leadership, compete, play the game hard all the time, play the game with energy, pitchers throw strikes, refuse to strikeout, and execute the little details of the game.

Coach Outlook: "We have had many people going above and beyond throughout the pandemic. A lot has gone on behind the scenes that we want to make sure we show appreciation for. We are thankful for all the support and people who have stepped up when we needed them the most. Our administration has kept us informed on different procedures. Our parents really stepped up to the plate with fundraising. Our players have been ready to get after it, everyone has been ready to be coached, and we have demonstrated great effort in most cases. We have some amazing people in and around our program who have really stepped up when we needed them most. We are very fortunate and could not be more thankful for all the efforts. We are ready to get started and adapt to any challenges we need to in order to compete in the 2021 season. This season and the efforts towards it are for our 11 2020 seniors, everyone currently in our program who lost an opportunity due to unforeseen circumstances, our coaching staff, our school district, support staff, community, alumni, and the program as a whole. It is a process to build our program culture/environment after not having a 2020 season. We are in the process of figuring some details out both on the field and growing together as a program. In a sense, we do feel battle tested over the past year. We are ready to get started and give everything that we have to represent the Anthony Wayne Baseball Program, school district, and the community to the best of our ability. -Jordan Nell (Varsity Assistant)"
