2021 Spring Team Preview: Chardon Hilltoppers

Team Name: Chardon Hilltoppers
Head Coach: Brian Long
Division: II
2019 Record: 18-11
Returning Starters/Pitchers: 7/3

2021 Team Strengths:

  • Pitching - We are lead by 3 senior lefties - Blake Barker, Brandon Schreffler, and Elliot Tyminski. Our coaching staff feels like any of these three pitchers can be the ace of the staff and beat anyone on any given day. Junior Christian Hall could also be in the mix to be one of our top arms.
  • Defense - We have a lot of depth at just about every position will a great amount of speed in our outfield.
  • Leadership - We are expecting to have 13 seniors on this years team. A lot of our seniors were on the 2020 State Championship Football team. Having those football players and multi-sport athletes will be no doubt a huge advantage on leading our team to a potential state tournament run.

Coach Outlook: "We are definitely inexperienced at the Varsity level, mostly due to losing the 2020 season. If the 2020 season would have occurred, we would have had a lot of returning Varsity players for the 2021 season. This year we will rely heavily on our pitching lead by three senior lefties - Blake Barker, Brandon Schreffler, and Elliot Tyminski. Juniors Christian Hall and Kyle Maronde will have huge contributions as well. Playing in the WRC and a tough non conference schedule will prep us to make a run in the D2 playoffs. Pitching and defense wins championships and our team will focus on those two areas. Offense/Hitting will be our biggest question this season. If we can hit, I believe we can compete with any team in the state."
