Complete Class of 2014 Player Analysis from the Fall TP Showcase

Anthony Durso, 3B/RHP, St. Xavier HS

5-foot-11, 190-pound prospect with strong medium body. Ran 7.8 60 yard dash with 3/4 grade arm strength from the corner infield (74 mph). Shows good hands and body balance, needs to improve footwork. Hits from crouch, has chest level hand trigger with upper cut. Moderate 3/4 am slot, fastball (75-76 mph) with curve (66-67) & cvhange (70-71). 

Austin Renwick, RHP, Lebanon HS

6-foot-1, 175-pound prospect. Lanky body shows good delivery and moderate upper 3/4 arm slot. Fastball shows some occasional run action, ranging 76-78 mph. Has feel of downward spin curveball (63-68 mph) and straight change (67-69 mph).

Brad Burkholder, OF, Granville HS

5-foot-10, 155-pound outfielder. Shows good outfield skills with good arm strength (79 mph). Needs to improve accuracy. Hits from upright stance with chest hand trigger causing flat bat plane. Needs to improve lower half torque. Ran 7.30 60-yard dash.

Crae Watkins, IF/RHP, Brookside HS

5-foot-10, 150-pound prospect. Player with good defensive skills. Shows hands and arm strength (79  mph outfield & 73 mph infield). Needs to improve body balance. Hits from crouch with upper body type style. Squares barrel from low hand set. On the mound, throws from multiple arm slots. Fastball is 71-73 mph with cutting slurve (67-71) and change (70-71).

Daniel O’Keefe, OF/IF, Centennial HS

5-foot-10, 200-pound prospect. Stocky body. Bat potential is his best key. Hits from open stance. Triggers hands from shoulder with upper cut path. Makes contact with power potential. Needs to improve consistency of squaring front side. Ran 7.45 60-yard dash, shows 3/4 grade arm strength (76 mph).

Eric McClure, C, Liberty-Union HS

6-foot-1, 165-pound catching prospect. Lanky body with some projection. Receives ball well with some lateral movement. Needs to improve footwork and glove to hand exchange on throws to improve split time (2.25-2.28). Hits with an open stance. Triggers hands from his chest creating a flat bat plane. Makes contact.

Hayden Ballog, IF, Pickerington North HS

5-foot-9, 155-pound prospect. Player with baseball sense. Shows good infield skills with hands and footwork. Runs good 7.13 60-yard dash. Needs to improve arm strength (61 mph). Hits from open stance. Shows bat speed into zone squaring barrel on ball. Shoulder level trigger. Has good hand finish and lower body torque.

Ian Chennell, OF, Cin. Moeller HS

5-foot-9, 160-pound prospect. Smallish build outfielder with good raw skills. Ran 7.06 60-yard dash with some arm strength (79 mph). Needs to improve trajectory. Hits with open stance. Squares front side well. Squares barrel on ball, has inside-out tendency. Needs to improve lower half in swing and clearing front side. Good hand swing finish.

Luke Fraley, 3B, Sandusky Perkins HS

6-foot-2, 205-pound corner infield prospect. Has good defensive skills with good hands and feet. Shows body balance and 73 mph arm strength. Hits with upright power stance. Triggers hands from the shoulder making good contact with some pop potential. Needs to improve lower half torque in swing to enhance power. Ran 7.31 60-yard dash.

Matt Deskins, IF/RHP, Clayton Northmont HS

5-foot-9, 140-pound prospect. Smallish player. Ran 7.85 60-yard dash with good 76 mph arm strength from all arm angles. Needs to improve balance. Offensively, triggers hands from chest with hand swing finish. Has 3/4 arm slot from the hill with 75-77 mph fastball. Curve (63-64 mph) and change (67-69 mph).

Perry Dellavalle, RHP, Brecksville Broadview HS

6-foot, 165-pound right-handed pitching prospect. Shows effort in cross body delivery. Shows moderate arm speed through 3/4 arm slot. Fastball ranged 78-80 mph with some spin action on curve (66-69 mph). Change straight at 71-72 mph.

Ryan Cox, IF, Moeller HS

5-foot-7, 155-pound infield prospect. Smallish player who shows good raw skills, Ran 7.16 60-yard dash with 73 mph arm strength from all arm angles. Has good defensive action with hands, feet and balance. Hits from wide stance, triggers hands from shoulder. Needs to enhance his lower body torque in swing. One hand swing finish.

Ryan Langhorst, RHP, Lakota West HS

5-foot-9, 140-pound right-handed pitching prospect. Shows balanced delivery with some short arm funk in backside arm extension. Upper 3/4 arm slot. Fastball shows some run at 74-76 mph. Curveball spins at 62-63 mph while change ranges 67-68 mph.

Tyler Dugan, RHP, Elder HS

6-foot, 185-pound right-handed pitching prospect. Good medium body, has cross body front side delivery with moderate arm speed through the upper 3/4 arm slot. Fastball ranged 74-76 mph. Curveball shows some slurvy action (60-62 mph) while changeup has some occasional run at 65-67 mph.
