Below, we have recapped the participants from the PBR Ohio Western Winter Showcase on January 19th. In the coming days, we will breakdown the top participants from the event. To view the complete statistical results from the event, please click here.

Alec Brown, MIF, Bowling Green, 2017
5-foot-9, 118 pounds with a small frame.  Registered a 5.47 40 yard dash time.  Displays short arm action while throwing through a 3/4 slot.  Shows some smooth actions with footwork, and plays through the ball.  Able to use different arm angles.  Topped out at 61 mph across the diamond.  At the plate, he uses a balanced set-up with short stride.  Contact type hitter, while using a level swing path.  Pull tendencies.  Will create more leverage as he works on lower half usage.  Reached a top exit velocity of 68 mph off the tee. 

Blaine Brown, C/OF, Bowling Green HS, 2017
5-foot-8, 133 pounds with a small frame.  Clocked in a 5.39 40 yard dash time.  This catching prospect throws through 3/4 slot with short arm action.  Reached a top arm velocity of 68 mph behind the dish.  Registered pop time splits between 2.30-2.48.  Needs to work on quickening transfer.  At the plate, the right handed hitter uses a tall, narrow base with long stride.  Tends to be late with swing, causing opposite field tendencies.  Contact type hitter.  Reached a top exit velocity of 74 mph off the tee. 

Blake Casaday, LHP/OF, Shawnee, 2016
5-foot-8, 165 pounds with an average frame.  Registered a 5.87 40 yard dash time.  In the outfield, he throws through a high 3/4 slot with easy arm action.  Clean exchange.  Needs to work on lateral quickness.  Showed some carry with throws topping out at 77 mph.  At the plate, the left handed hitter uses a balanced stance with short stride.  Displays a smooth stroke, while using an uphill bat path.  Will continue to improve overall power as he continues to physically mature.  Reached a top exit velocity of 80 mph off the tee.  On the mound, the southpaw displays a smooth delivery.  He shows some command for his 70-74 mph straight fastball.   His 58-60 mph curveball features some sharp 11/5 tilt.  He also mixed in a 69-71 mph changeup thrown with near fastball arm speed.  Will keep improving as he speeds up his lower half. 

Brayden Sautter, MIF/OF, Ada HS, 2016
5-foot-9, 155 pounds with an average, athletic frame.  Clocked in a 5.31 40 yard dash time.  In the infield, he throws through a high 3/4 slot with short arm action.  Footwork gets heavy at times causing him to sit back on his heels when playing the ball.  Showed solid accuracy with throws across the field topping out at 66 mph.  At the plate, the left handed hitter uses a balanced base with short stride.  Slightly uphill bat path.  Contact type hitter.  Will continue to improve as he implements his lower half, and works on overall swing fluidity.  Reached a top exit velocity of 72 mph off the tee.

Brock Conner, RHP/1B, St. John’s Jesuit, 2015
6-foot-2, 215 pounds with a solid, projectable frame.  Registered a 5.88 40 yard dash time.  In the infield, he throws through a 3/4 slot with somewhat loose arm action.  Displayed average hands and footwork, while playing around the base.  Topped out at 73 mph.  At the plate, the right handed hitter uses an athletic setup with short stride.  Tends to wrap during load.  Uses a slightly uphill path, and creates some substantial power when his hands are extended.  Will continue to improve as he incorporates his lower half.  Recorded one of the top exit velocities in the showcase, reaching 87 mph off the tee.  On the mound, the 2015 prospect displays short, but loose arm action.  Regular effort.  Tends to land slightly closed in delivery.  Fastball sat between 75-77 mph, while showing good command of the zone.  The 64-65 mph breaking ball featured some sharpness with 10/4 tilt.  Also mixed in a 70 mph straight changeup, thrown at near fastball arm speed. 

Calvin Kortze, MIF/3B, Green HS, 2015
5-foot-10, 170 pounds with a solid, athletic frame.  Registered a 5.36 40 yard dash time.  Throws through a 3/4 slot with short arm action.  Plays well through the ball.  Needs to work on developing a quicker first step.  Reached a top arm velocity of 80 mph from the outfield, and 76 mph in the infield.  At the plate, the right handed hitter uses a balanced base with short stride.  Overall strength allows him to create consistent linedrive production.  Uphill bat path.  Reached a top exit velocity of 83 mph off the tee.  On the mound, the right hander features smooth rhythm with some quick arm speed.  Minimal hip load.  Fastball sat between 78-80 mph, featuring arm-side run.  Uses a 69-71 mph curveball that displays some sharp 11/5 movement.  Also mixed in a 70-71 mph changeup thrown at near fastball arm speed. 

Chandler Smith, OF, Orrville HS, 2014
6-foot-0, 155 pounds with a long, athletic frame.  Clocked in a 4.97 40 yard dash time.  Throws through a 3/4 slot with short arm action.  Displayed some fluidity in footwork, and a quick release.  Can create more momentum by playing fully through the ball.  Reached a top arm velocity of 78 mph.  At the plate, the right handed hitter uses a balanced/athletic stance with short stride.  Slightly uphill bat path.  Contact type hitter that displays pull tendencies in swing.  Reached a top exit velocity of 72 mph. 

Clayton Brown, OF/RHP, Bowling Green HS, 2017
5-foot-7, 127 pounds with a thin frame.  Recorded a 5.41 40 yard dash time.  In the outfield, he throws through a 3/4 slot with short arm action.  Average hands and footwork.  Can create more momentum when playing through the ball.  Topped out at 76 mph on throws.  At the plate, the right handed hitter uses a slightly open athletic stance.  Tends to arm bar in load.  Displays some fluidity in swing while featuring contact type production.  Registered a top exit velocity of 70 mph off the tee.  On the mound, he uses a somewhat smooth delivery while displaying regular effort.  Features a 71-73 mph straight fastball.  A 61-63 mph curveball that shows gradual 11/5 movement.  Also mixed in a 65 mph changeup. 

Derek Knisley, C, Bryan HS, 2015
5-foot-11, 190 pounds with a strong, athletic frame.  Ran a 5.32 40 yard dash time.  Behind the plate, he displays good overall arm strength and a quick transfer.  Topped out at 77 mph.  Recorded pop time splits between 2.01 and 2.12.  At the plate, the left handed hitter uses an open set-up with short stride.  Tends to drop hands in load.  Shows some good overall pull power.  Will continue to improve at the plate as he works on fully using his lower half.  Reached a top exit velocity of 84 mph off the tee. 

Jack Schaller, 3B/RHP, Bowling Green HS, 2016
6-foot-3, 165 pounds two-way prospect.  Clocked in a 5.30 40 yard dash time.  In the infield, he features some smooth footwork, and a quick release.  Displayed soft hands when playing the backhand.  Topped out at 72 mph across the infield.  Reached 80 mph on throws from the outfield.  At the plate, the right handed hitter uses a balanced setup with long stride.  Tends to land heavy on front foot.  Contact type hitter that uses a level swing path.  Needs to work on overall fluidity of swing.  Reached a top exit velocity of 84 mph off the tee.  On the mound, the right hander throws through a 3/4 slot with some long arm action.  Average arm speed.  His 76-77 mph fastball features a considerable amount of arm-side run.  The 61-64 mph breaking ball displays average depth at 10/4 tilt.  Also uses a 65-66 mph changeup. 

Jacob Sevitz, MIF, Shawnee, 2016
5-foot-8, 140 pounds with a thin frame.  Registered a 5.25 40 yard dash time.  Throws through a high 3/4 slot with short arm action.  Average hands.  Some fluidity in footwork.  Displayed solid accuracy on throws across the diamond, while topping out at 65 mph.  The right handed hitter uses a tall near straight up stance with short stride.  Contact type hitter that can use most of the field.  Needs to work on lower half use.  Reached a top exit velocity of 70 mph off the tee. 

Jaret Montenery, MIF, Spencerville HS, 2018
5-foot-5, 130 pounds with a slim athletic frame.  A switch-hitting middle infielder.  Ran a 5.31 40 yard dash time.  Throws through a high 3/4 slot with short arm action.  Actions in the field do not say he is an 8th grader.  Displays smooth/soft hands, while attacking and playing through the baseball.  Also, shows accuracy in throws across the field, while topping out at 73 mph.  At the plate, his right handed stance uses a balance, crouched base with short stride.  His left handed stance uses a tall, narrow setup with short early stride.  Early stride tends to break up overall fluidness of swing.  Consistently able to spray linedrives to all parts of the field from both sides of the plate.  As his body matures, he will add more strength, and create some jump off his bat.  Reached a top exit velocity of 72 mph. 

Jimmy Bauer, 1B/OF, Defiance HS, 2015
6-foot-3, 190 pounds with long, lanky frame.  Posted a 5.32 40 yard dash time.  In the infield, he throws through a high 3/4 slot with short arm action.  In the outfield, he plays well through the ball, while displaying some fluid footwork.  At first, he offers above average lateral quickness.  Topped out at 78 mph in the outfield, and 70 mph in the infield.  At the plate, the left handed hitter uses a bent stance with toe tap stride.  Short stroke.  Lindrive type hitter that can use the entire field.  Registered a top exit velocity of 85 mph off the tee.

Jonathan Clark, OF/1B, West Holmes HS, 2014
5-foot-10, 180 pounds with an average frame.  Registered a 5.25 40 yard dash time.  Throws through a high 3/4 slot with somewhat loose arm action.  Tendency of waiting back, instead of playing through the ball.  Reached a top arm velocity of 75 mph.  At the plate, the left handed hitter uses an open base with short stride.  Displays linedrive production, while also showing spurts of pull power.  Some fluidity in swing while using level bat path.  Reached a top exit velocity of 77 mph.

Jordan Tovarnak, RHP/3B, Shawnee HS, 2016
6-foot-2, 235 pound two-way prospect.  Posted a 40 yard dash time of 6.01 seconds.  In the infield, he displayed above average hands.  Tends to field the ball flat footed decreasing his ability to create momentum.  Topped out at 68 mph across the infield.  At the plate, the right handed hitter uses a tall stance with short stride.  Smooth load.  Uphill bat path.  Displays significant pull power, while showing some plus bat speed.  Reached a top exit velocity of 83 mph off the tee.  On the mound, the right hander throws through a 3/4 slot with short arm action.  Fastball sat between 71-72 mph while also featuring slight arm-side run.  Used a 66-69 mph curveball displaying 11/5 tilt.  Also, mixed in a 63-66 mph changeup thrown at near fastball arm speed.  

Joseph Sanchez, MIF/OF, Wayne HS, 2015
5-foot-10, 171 pounds with a solid, athletic frame.  Clocked in a 5.22 40-yard dash time.  In the infield, he throws through a 3/4 slot with short arm action.  Features some fluid actions with footwork.  Still needs to work on playing through the ball.  Reached a top arm velocity of 74 mph.  At the plate, the right handed hitter uses a wide balanced base with short stride.  Sufficient use of lower half, while creating some raw power.  Pull tendencies in swing.  Reached a top exit velocity of 78 mph off the tee.

Justice Tussing, MIF, Van Wert HS, 2016
5-foot-9, 170 pounds with a solid, average frame.  Registered a 5.11 40 yard dash time.  In the infield, he throws through an over the top slot with long arm action.  Average exchange.  Tendency to stab with glove when playing the ball.  Showed some accuracy in throws, while topping out at 70 mph.  At the dish, the right handed hitter uses slightly open stance with wide base.  Short stride.  Level swing path.  Strong swing that creates some aggressive pull power.  Registered a top exit velocity of 73 mph.

Kody King, RHP, Fairview HS, 2016
6-foot-3, 220 pounds with a big stocky frame.  Throws through a 3/4 arm slot with somewhat loose arm action.  Rhythm is a bit choppy as he pauses at the top of his balance point.  Displayed four different pitches.  Fastball sat 81-83 and reached up to 84 a few times.  Showed some decent feel for his 68-71 mph slider, that displays some sharp late breaking action.  Used a 74-76 mph changeup thrown with fastball arm speed.  Also threw a 74-75 mph cutter that showed some impressive movement.  Keeping overall fluidity with his lower half should easily allow him to pick up a couple mph in velocity.

Landon Bloir, LHP/1B, Edon Northwest HS, 2016
6-foot-0, 200 pound two-way prospect.  Registered a 5.44 40 yard dash time.  In the infield, he throws through 3/4 slot with short arm action.  Average hands and exchange.  Reached a top velocity of 70 mph.  At the plate, the left handed hitter uses a balanced stance with short stride.  Uses a short/compact stroke with level bat path.  Will improve as he starts to incorporate his lower half.  Reached a top exit velocity of 76 mph off the tee.  On the mound, the southpaw uses short/stiff arm action.  Regular effort delivery.  Displayed solid command of fastball, while sitting between 76-78 mph.  Breaking ball features some sharp 10/4 movement.  Also used a 71 mph changeup thrown at near fastball arm speed.

Landon DeMoss, OF/RHP, Shawnee HS, 2015
5-foot-10, 155 pounds with an athletic frame.  Ran a 5.38 40-yard dash time.  Throws with short arm action through an over the top slot.  Displays some fluidity in footwork, allowing him to play through the ball.  Registered a top arm velocity of 71 mph.  At the plate, the right handed hitter uses a balance stance with short stride.  Tends to arm bar.  Contact type hitter.  Swing mechanics are a bit stiff, but will continue to improve with time.  Reached a top exit velocity of 70 mpg off the tee.  On the mound, the right handed pitcher throws through the same over the top slot.  Smooth rhythm.  Showed solid overall command for his 69-71 mph fastball.  His 11/5 breaking ball displays gradual movement, and was consistently kept low in the zone.  Also threw a 65 mph changeup. 

Logan Spieles, 1B/RHP, Shawnee HS, 2015
5-foot-11, 170 pounds with an average frame.  Registered a 5.09 40 yard dash time.  In the infield, he throws through a high 3/4 slot with short arm action.  Displays technically sound footwork playing around the bag at first base.  Reached a top arm velocity of 60 mph.  At the plate, the right handed hitter uses a balanced base with short stride.  Level swing path.  Contact type hitter that shows some opposite field tendencies.  Will continue to improve as he implements his lower half in swing.  Reached a top exit velocity of 74 mph.

Matt Entsminger, OF/1B, Bellefontaine HS, 2015
5-foot-8, 150 pounds with thin, athletic frame.  Ran a showcase best 4.84 40-yard dash.  In the outfield he throws through a high 3/4 slot with long/loose arm action.  Showed fluid footwork, while creating good momentum playing through the ball.  Throws showed some carry while topping out at 78 mph.  At the plate, the left handed hitter uses an open set-up with short stride.  Smooth load.  Uses a level swing path while creating linedrive production.  Reached a top exit velocity of 76 mph off the tee.  Interesting prospect that does many things well in the field, and at the plate. 

Michael Frederick, C/MIF, Oak Hills, 2015
5-foot-9, 160 pounds with a strong legged, average frame.  Clocked in a 5.72 40 yard dash.  Behind the plate, the catcher throws through a high 3/4 slot with short arm action.  Reached a top arm velocity of 68 mph, while registering pop time splits between 2.22-2.38.  At the plate, the right handed hitter uses a slightly open stance with short stride.  Linedrive type production that shows some pull tendencies in swing.  Lower half creates some jump off the bat. Power will become more consistent as he continues to bulk up.  Registered a top exit velocity of 71 mph off the tee.

Mitch Cromley, RHP, Bowling Green HS, 2015
6-foot-2, 210 pounds with a big solid frame.  Cromley is deceptive on the mound as he uses an orthodox pitching style.  Throws through a high 3/4 arm slot with long and somewhat loose arm action.  Some rhythm throughout delivery.  Displayed good command of his 80-83 mph fastball that shows slight running action.  Worked in a hard 72 mph slider which displayed some sharpness.  His 67-68 mph sinker could potentially be his best as it offers some late diving action.  Best thing about his delivery is he is able to hide the ball making it hard for the batter to pick up out of his hand. 

Nate Kaffenbarger, SS/RHP, Indian Lake, 2018
5-foot-10, 168 pounds with a thin, athletic frame.  Young two-way guy.  Registered a 5.11 40 yard dash time.  In the infield, he throws through a high 3/4 slot with short arm action.  Clean exchange.  Tends to sit back on heels, instead of playing through the ball.  Reached a top arm velocity of 68 mph.  At the plate, the right handed hitter uses a balanced setup with short stride.  Tends to bail with front foot.  Level swing path.  Currently a contact type hitter that features some opposite field production.  Registered a top exit velocity of 66 mph off the tee.  On the mound, the right hander displays some quick arm speed, while using a high 3/4 slot.  Displays good hip torque, and direction.  Fastball sat between 73-75 mph.  Used a 61-63 mph breaking ball that features gradual 10/4 movement.  Also throws a 68-71 mph changeup.  Projectable frame for a 2018 grad.  Worth keeping an eye on as he continues to mature. 

Nate Schroer, C/RHP, Wapakoneta HS, 2017
5-foot-10, 162 pounds with an average frame.  Two-way prospect.  Clocked in a 5.22 40 yard dash time.  Behind the plate, the catcher throws through an over the top slot with short arm action.  Topped out at 74 mph, while recording pop time splits between 2.13 and 2.26.  The right handed hitter uses a bent stance with short stride.  Short compact stroke.  Displayed linedrive type production with the ability to use the entire field.  Reached a top exit velocity of 76 mph off the tee.  On the mound, the 2017 prospect definitely shows some potential.  High 3/4 slot with short arm action.  Smooth rhythm.  Consistently pounded the zone with his 75-77 mph straight fastball.  His 67-68 mph curveball features some sharp, late breaking 12/6 movement.  Also threw in a 68-70 mph changeup with near fastball arm speed. 

Terry Dockery III, LHP/OF, Continental, 2016
5-foot-10, 150 pounds with an average, athletic frame.  Ran a 5.36 40-yard dash time.  In the outfield, he throws through a 3/4 slot and topped out at a near showcase best 79 mph.  Average hands.  Needs to clean up overall footwork technique.  At the plate, the left handed hitter uses a slightly open stance with small leg kick stride.  Shows substantial use of lower half, and currently is a linedrive type hitter.  Swing features smooth fluidity with some pull tendencies.  Reached a top exit velocity of 77 mph.  Nice 2016 prospect that will be worth keeping an eye on.  On the mound, the southpaw throws through a 3/4 slot with short/stiff arm action.  Some quickness in arm speed.  71-75 mph fastball displayed significant arm-side run.  Tended to struggle with overall feel of his 62-66 mph slider that featured some sharpness.  Also threw a 62-65 mph changeup.  Still learning how to become a pitcher, but has plenty of time to do so. 

Thad Ringwald, LHP/1B, Spencerville HS, 2017
5-foot-11, 164 pounds with a solid, athletic frame.  Two-way 2017 prospect.  Clocked in a 5.56 40 yard dash time.  On the mound, the southpaw throws through a high 3/4 slot with short arm action.  Average arm speed.  His fastball features slight arm-side run while sitting between 71-74 mph.  Uses a 54-56 mph breaking ball that displays 11/5 movement and above average depth.  Tends to slow arm speed down on breaking ball.  Also mixed in a 65-66 mph changeup.  At first base, the 2017 prospect shows some quick reactions around the bag.  Some softness in hands.  Topped out at 61 mph.  At the plate, the left handed hitter uses a balanced stance with long stride.  Features a level swing path, and generates linedrive production.  Swing can get long at times.  Reached a top exit velocity of 79 mph.  Young prospect that has a great frame, and should continue to improve.

Tobie Azeez, OF, Shawnee HS, 2014
5-foot-11, 170 pounds with an average, athletic frame.  Registered a 40 yard dash time of 5.10 seconds. Projects best as a corner outfielder at the next level.  Throws through a high 3/4 slot with short arm action.  Let’s his athleticism take over in the outfield as he plays well through the ball, and features some carry on throws while topping out at 78 mph.  Tends to field ball off to the side of his body.  The right handed hitter uses a balanced set-up with toe tap stride.  Shows some raw potential at the plate.  Features some good bat speed, while taking a strong uphill swing path.  Has the strength to put balls in the gap, just needs some clean-up with overall swing mechanics.  Reached a top exit velocity of 83 mph off the tee.

Trevor Anderson, SS/RHP, Shawnee HS, 2015
6-foot-1, 150 pound long legged, athletic frame.  Ran a 5.18 40 yard dash time.  In the field, he throws through a 3/4 slot with short arm action.  Shows some good overall actions as he displays smooth footwork, and plays well through the ball.  Displayed accuracy in throws across the diamond, as he topped out at 74 mph.  Best tool is his bat.  At the plate, the right handed hitter uses a slightly open set-up with leg kick stride.  Needs to work on load.  Takes smooth uphill stroke and gets good extension through contact.  Linedrive type guy.  Projects some future gap to gap power as his frame bulks up.  Reached a top exit velocity of 84 mph off the tee.  On the mound, the right handed pitcher displayed some long/stiff arm action.  Smooth easy effort delivery.  Fastball sat between 76-77 mph.  His 61-62 mph breaking ball displays 11/5 gradual movement.  Also threw in a 67-68 mph changeup.

Trey Abrams, 3B/MIF, Pickerington Central HS, 2015
5-foot-8, 165 pounds with an average frame.  Clocked in a 40 yard dash time of 5.7 seconds.  In the infield, he throws through an over the top slot with long arm action.  Displayed average footwork, and average hands.  Struggled mildly with accuracy while topping out at 69 mph.  At the plate, the right handed hitter uses a balance base with short stride.  Slightly uphill bat path.  Linedrive type hitter that is able to use the entire field.  Reached a top exit velocity of 71 mph off the tee.

Ty Boedicker, C/3B, Fairborn HS, 2015
5-foot-11, 180 pounds with an athletic frame.  Clocked in a 40 yard dash time of 5.25 seconds.  Behind the plate, the catcher throws through a high 3/4 slot with short arm action.  Quick footwork.  Reached a top arm velocity of 73 mph, while recording pop time splits between 2.11 and 2.14.  At the plate, the right handed hitter uses a balanced base with short stride.  Tends to drop hands in load.  Sufficient use of lower half.  Displays linedrive type production while using a level swing path.  Reached a top exit velocity of 73 mph off the tee. 

Tyler Hill, C/1B, Bellefontaine HS, 2015
6-foot-1, 180 pounds with a solid frame.  Clocked in a 5.22 40 yard dash time.  Behind the plate, the catcher throws through a high 3/4 slot with short arm action.  Recorded pop time splits between 2.04-2.14.  Topped out at 73 mph from behind the dish.  At the plate, the right handed hitter uses a balanced base with small leg kick type stride.  Takes an aggressive cut at the ball.  Strong build, and aggressive swing allows him to create substantial pop off his bat.  Level swing path.  Posted the top exit velocity of the Western Winter Showcase reaching 89 mph off the tee.

Tyler Jones, RHP/3B, Bellefontaine HS, 2016
6-foot-3, 165 pounds with a projectable long lanky frame.  The sophomore projects best as a pitcher at the next level.  The right hander uses long/loose arm action through a 3/4 to low 3/4 slot.  Noticeably quick arm speed.  Offers three different pitches which all show substantial movement.  The arm slot combined with the arm speed makes his 80-83 mph fastball difficult to square up; also shows some late life in the zone.  His 64-66 mph breaking ball displays some slurvy like movement. Also showed the ability to mix in a 73-74 mph changeup thrown at near fastball arm speed.  The ability is there with this right handed pitching prospect.  He does tend land closed causing some command issues as he throws across his body.    In the infield, he offers some great effort, and energy.  Average hands, and footwork.  Reached a top arm velocity of 76 mph.  At the plate, the left handed hitter uses a wide base with short stride.  Slightly uphill bat path.  Contact type hitter with the ability to hit to all fields.  Will improve as he continues to mature physically.  Reached a top exit velocity of 74 mph. 

William Kleffner, C/1B, Shawnee HS, 2015
6-foot-0, 190 pounds with strong bodied catcher.  Posted a 5.90 40 yard dash time.  Behind the plate, he throws through a high 3/4 slot with short arm action.  Footwork tends to land open.  Recorded pop time splits between 2.06 and 2.22 seconds.  Reached a top arm velocity of 70 mph.  At the plate, the right handed hitter features a crouch stance with short stride.  Displays a short level swing with pull tendencies.  Linedrive type.  Needs to work on lower half usage.  Registered a top exit velocity of 73 mph.
