Rigo Ramos LHP / 1B / Archbold, OH / 2019

ARCHBOLD - A summer playing with Bo Jackson Elite helped Rigo Ramos in many ways.

“Not only did it get me experience but it made me realize how much I love the game of baseball,” Ramos assessed.

Enough so that it will remain a big part of his future after committing to Bowling Green.

“I learned I can compete with the best of them,” the Archbold senior said about his summer ball experience. “I was a little intimidated and nervous at first, but once I was out there I was able to hang with the best of them. From that I can take the knowledge I learned everytime I step on the mound. I need to be confident and know what I can do.”

The recipient is Bowling Green, less than an hour from his hometown.

“I love the atmosphere there,” the 6-5 178-pound left-handed pitcher said. “It’s close to home and my family is important to me.”

A visit less than two months ago went well for Ramos, who had interest from other Mid-American Conference schools as well as Big 10 and Big East programs thanks in part to PBR events (Top Prospect Games, Southern Ohio Prospect Games and ACME/Legion Showcase) as well as playing with Bo Jackson Elite.

“I felt a connection with the new pitching coach,” Ramos said in reference to Kyle Hallock, who played on four MAC championship teams at Kent State, earning MAC Pitcher of the Year honors in 2011 before playing in the Astros organization. Most recently he coached at Malone for four years. “I think he will be good at getting me to the next level.”

Not even three weeks after the BG visit, the 82nd-ranked 2019 player in Ohio committed.
