Patrick Mullinger, C, Moeller, Class of 2016

PBR: Why did you choose Denison?

Mullinger: I chose Denison because it was the perfect fit for me both academically and athletically. I also really like the way that the program is headed with Coach Deegan and the rest of the coaching staff.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?

Mullinger: I was also considering Northwood University and Hillsdale College

PBR: Where did the coaching staff first see you and how did your relationship begin with them?

Mullinger: I believe they first saw me during the state tournament this past year. Coach Lindquist and I exchanged a few emails and set up a visit.

PBR: Now that you have your commitment out of the way, what are your goals both individually and for the team going into your senior season?

Mullinger: My goals for this spring are the same as they were before my commitment and that’s to do whatever I can to help my team win another State Championship. For me I don’t want to focus on the stats and focus more on the end goal

PBR: How does it feel to be a part of the Moeller tradition and to know you get to put on the same uniform as Ken Griffey Jr, Barry Larkin and other greats?

Mullinger: Moeller is such an amazing place with outstanding tradition. I feel very honored to be a small part of something a ton bigger than me and knowing I walk the same halls as those Hall of Famers is just an awesome feeling.

PBR: Who do you play for in the summer and what was the most memorable experience from this summer?

Mullinger: Last summer I played for the Midland Braves and easily the most memorable experience was hitting my first career walk-off home run in Indianapolis

PBR:  What person has the great impact on your baseball career and why?

Mullinger: Easily my entire family. The amount of support they have all given me and the amount of sacrifices they have made is truly amazing to me, and I wouldn’t trade them for the world.

PBR: What were your stats this spring season?

Mullinger: I had an average of .324, a .549 slugging percentage, on base percent of .515 with 26 walks, and a 1.000 fielding percentage

PBR: Who is the toughest pitcher that you have faced in Ohio?

Mullinger: Easily Nick Bennett. Luckily though I only have to face him in practice
