Will Zeller, 1B, Defiance HS, Class of 2016

PBR: Why did you choose St. Francis?

Zeller: St. Francis had all the aspects I was looking for in a college. I love the big city and all the opportunities Fort Wayne has to offer. St. Francis has one of the best sports management programs in the area along with some great experienced professors. I also love their baseball program. The coaches were very welcoming and made me feel at home from the first visit I had there.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?

Zeller: Indiana Tech and Wittenberg University were at the top of my list as well.

PBR: Where did the coaches first see you? How did your relationship develop with them?

Zeller: I'm honestly not quite sure where they first saw me play. I received an email from  their assistant coach that caught my attention and I thought I'd give them a shot. When I first arrived on campus, I knew it'd be a great fit for me.

PBR: What role do the coaches expect you to play your first year on campus?

Zeller: They are looking for me to be a utility infielder and an offensive threat.

PBR: Was the recruiting process what you expected?

Zeller: The recruiting process was a ton of fun. PBR is definitely the leader when it comes to showcases and getting your name out there. The videos they shoot are great and the way they cover games in the spring is exceptional. They really provide you with all the tools you need to get recruited at the next level.

PBR: Who do you play for in the summer and what is your most memorable experience?

Zeller: I played for our Defiance Acme team this summer and my most memorable experience would have to be when I got on a hitting streak in the acme tournament and reached the state acme semifinals.

PBR: Who had the biggest impact on you as a baseball player?

Zeller: My assistant coach, Coach Weaver, has made a huge impact on me on and off the field. He helped me get to where I am today by all of his extra time he spent working with me.
