Sam Lafontaine, INF, Western Reserve, Class of 2016

PBR: Why did you choose Rollins?

LaFontaine: Rollins is the perfect fit. With their strong business school, being able to play year round in Florida, and in the Sunshine State Conference is a dream come true. After speaking with Coach Sjogren I knew I wanted to be a Tar.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?

LaFontaine: Dayton, Xavier, Georgetown.

PBR: How much did playing down south play a part in your decision?

LaFontaine: A huge part. I've always wanted to play down south. I'm extremely fortunate I'll be able to play year round in such great conditions.

PBR: How does it feel to get your commitment out of the way prior to your senior year of school?

LaFontaine: Great. I'm excited for my senior year at Reserve.

PBR: Who do you play for in the summer and what was the most memorable experience from this summer?

LaFontaine: Ohio Elite (Valentine). All the great new teammates I had. Especially in Georgia we had a lot of fun as a team and I'll miss playing with all those guys.

PBR:  What person has the greatest impact on your baseball career and why?

LaFontaine: My dad. He's always made time since I was little to take me to hit or hit me ground balls, and has made countless sacrifices for me to play at all the great tournaments and events I've gone to in the past years. I'm extremely grateful for everything he and the rest of my family have done to help me get here and I wouldn't be here without them.

PBR: What were your stats this spring season?

LaFontaine: BA: .455, 10 doubles, 2 Triples, 2 Home Runs, 22 RBI's.
