Seth Lonsway, LHP, Celina HS, Class of 2017

PBR: Why did you choose Ohio State?

Lonsway: I chose Ohio State for many reasons. Education,  Location. Facilities, Coaching Staff were down to earth guys and treated my family and I with respect. Also they have two left handed pitching coaches who have MLB experience.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?

Lonsway: Wright State, Kent State, UC, Penn State.

PBR: Where did Coach Beals first see you? How did your relationship develop with them?

Lonsway: I believe this summer during travel ball.

PBR: You performed extremely well at PBR Future Games this summer. How did that help you're recruiting process?

Lonsway: Thank you. Great exposure.

PBR: You are only a junior, how important was it to get your commitment out of the way so early? Are you finished with the recruiting process?

Lonsway: It wasn’t that important to me to get my commitment out of the way this early. I got to visit and talk to many different schools this year and Ohio State just felt right. I was not trying to get my commitment out of the way early, the right opportunity came along and I took it. I actually took my time with the recruiting process and kept and open mind. Yes, I am finished.

PBR: Who did you play for in the summer and what was your most memorable experience?

Lonsway: Lima Locos Express. My most memorable experience this summer was throwing my no hitter. Everybody was on they're A game. It was a fun game to play with my teammates.

PBR: What were your expectations about the recruiting process?

Lonsway: It seemed fun in the beginning but making a decision this big in life was a little stressful. I’m glad I took my time and viewed my options and made the right decision.

PBR: What were your stats this spring?

Lonsway: 39 Innings pitched. 4-1 W-L .12 Earned runs. 60 Strikeouts. 2.1 ERA. 1.4 Whip. .318 batting average. .402 OBP. .388 SLG. 18 Stolen bases.
