Cole Andrews, C, Watterson HS, Class of 2018

PBR: Why did you choose Miami?

Andrews: I chose Miami because that is the school where I felt most at home. It was somewhere where I could really see myself spending the next 4 years of my life. Coach Hayden’s philosophies and beliefs meshed very well with my own. The facilities are unbelievable, and give me the resources to make me the best player possible. Not only is Miami setting me up to succeed on the field, but it will give me a degree that can take me far in life off of the field.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?

Andrews: Morehead State, University of Illinois at Chicago, Eastern Michigan, Nebraska, William and Mary, and Navy.

PBR: How does it feel to be a part of the Redhawk family?

Andrews: It is a great feeling! I am very honored to be a part of such a prestigious and storied program and university. It is very humbling to become a Redhawk!

PBR: Now that you have your commitment out of the way, what are your goals individually as you prepare for your senior season?

Andrews: Now that I do not have to worry about the recruiting process anymore, I want to really focus on getting in the weight room more often and improving the smaller facets of my game.

PBR: How does it feel to be a part of a Division 1 baseball program?

Andrews: It feels amazing! Playing division one baseball has always been one of my biggest dreams, and to finally accomplish that is a feeling like no other.

PBR: Who do you play for in the summer and what was the most memorable experience from this summer?

Andrews: I play for Bo Jackson Elite 2018’s. My most memorable experience from the summer was making it to the final four of the Cincy Flames Tournament of Champions after only playing together for one weekend.

PBR:  What person has the great impact on your baseball career and why?

Andrews: My parents definitely have had the greatest impact on my baseball career. They have been supportive throughout the whole process, and have always done anything they can to help me as a player and a person.

PBR: What were your stats last spring season?

Andrews: .333 BA  .413 OBP .470 SLG  10 runners CS

PBR: Who is the best pitcher that you have ever faced?

Andrews: Kumar Rocker from Team Elite Prime
