Seth Gergely, OF, Tallmadge HS, Class of 2018

PBR: Why did you choose Purdue?

Gergely: After meeting with Coach Waz and then touring the campus, I really felt as if it could be a great fit for me and a home away from home.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?

Gergely: Other schools that showed interest in me include Belmont University, The University of Cincinnati, Central Michigan University, Campbell University, and Coastal Carolina University. Out of those, I was considering Coastal Carolina and Campbell University.

PBR: Coach Wasikowski is in new era at Purdue.  How does it feel to be a part of Purdue baseball?

Gergely: It feels amazing to be a part of a program that is headed in the right direction and is led by a great leader who is changing the culture at Purdue.

PBR: How does it feel to be a part of a Division 1 baseball program?

Gergely: I'm honored and grateful to be able to play at a high level that a lot of people don't get the chance to do. I'm looking forward to getting stronger and continuing to develop my game.

PBR: Who do you play for in the summer and what was the most memorable experience from this summer?

Gergely: I play for the Brownlee Lookouts out of Northeast Ohio. Being able to travel on out of town trips to places like Nashville and Indy with my teammates has been great.

PBR: What were your stats last spring season?

Gergely: 40-93, .430 AVG, 7 2B, 3 3B, 1 HR, 23 R, 14 RBI, 9 SB, 15 BB

PBR: Who is the best pitcher that you have ever faced?

Gergely: I'd have to say the best pitcher I've faced is probably Jacob Sweeney from Team DeMarini. He's a lefty that throws upwards of 90mph and his low and inside fastball was near impossible to hit.
