Jacob Savina RHP / SS / Antwerp, OH / 2020

ANTWERP - A big fall baseball season has Jacob Savina beginning to weigh his options in regard to college baseball.

“Everything went well,” the Antwerp senior said about playing in the Cangelosi Fall League at Bo Jackson’s Elite Sports. “I pitched the first game every Sunday and played a position in the second game. You’re definitely playing against some prospects there.”

The 6-0 185-pounder, who had been a standout at two PBR summer events - the ACME/Legion Showcase and the Southern Ohio Unsigned Senior Games, distinguished himself during the fall league.

“My best three games I had eight Ks in five innings, 11 Ks in six innings and 12 Ks in six innings,” noted Savina, who did not permit a run in those three impressive outings.

At the Unsigned Senior Games in October, his third PBR event of the year, Savina was ranked among the Most Projectable Arms and Best Fastball categories.

“I quit football this year to do baseball and get prepared for the season,” the 30th-rated uncommitted senior right-handed pitcher in the state pointed out. “I went to the PBR showcases to try and get myself better. There’s a wide range of competition there and they’re well-fashioned and thorough in getting scouts to look at everybody.”

Savina is considering the junior college route at this point in time.

“I came in a little late,” the 239th-ranked 2020 in Ohio admitted. “I didn’t know about PBR until that first showcase in June. I was a three-sport athlete just trying to get ready for each season.”

But now Savina, who will play basketball this winter, has his sights set on the sport of baseball after helping Antwerp to the Division IV baseball state semifinals in June.
