With 2022 now in the past, PBR Ohio is eagerly anticipating bringing the Buckeye state the best high school coverage that can be found anywhere in 2023. Starting in February, we began releasing team previews for squads across the state. Ahead, we will have Preseason All-State Teams as well as the Preseason State Rankings coming your way.

2023 Spring Team Preview: Montpelier Locomotives

Team Name: Montpelier Locomotives
Head Coach: Toby Hutchison
Division: IV
2022 Record: 11-9
Returning Starters/Pitchers: 7/6

Coach Outlook: "2022 was a year of building confidence and experience. We lost several key contributors in 2021 and it lead to a good number of our guys having to step up to fill the roles of seniors who had carried the torch of the program. Last season we graduated one senior, David Bowman, who was our first team all league catcher. Dave helped guide the underclassman and was a great leader. For 2023 we return our core. Every player on on roster who is returning has varsity experience. We also bring in several athletic freshman who we feel will contribute greatly. We are expecting to compete in our league and lean on our upperclassmen in order to be successful."

2023 Team Strengths:

  • Athleticism - Our boys have worked hard in the offseason to become bigger, faster, and stronger. Our kids move well and are able to play all over.
  • Versatility - Every kid on our team is capable of playing almost every position. A majority of our kids also happen to pitch as well.
  • Experience - We lose one senior to graduation. All of our players from 2022 are now seasoned and understand what it takes to be successful. Players are much more comfortable with the pace of play and knowing what to do when the ball is in our hands
