Ohio State Is Right For Price

VAN WERT - Landon Price was taking his time with the recruiting process.

But then …

“It was me showing a lot more interest and they kind of took notice.”

That is how the Lincolnview sophomore explained the recent offer from Ohio State.

“They had an idea of what I brought to the table,” noted Price, who was seen by the Big 10 school at the Future Games as well as the WWBA in Georgia during the summer. “It was me making them know I enjoy being there.”

The third-rated 2022 left-handed pitcher in Ohio then showed his admiration for the school and baseball program with a commitment to become a Buckeye.

“The biggest thing for me was the coaching staff and how welcoming they were,” explained the 5-10 170-pounder. “We’ve been in contact the last three-and-a-half to four months, it just seemed like a place where I fit in well and they would take care of me when I’m there.”

Kentucky, Purdue and Ball State along with state schools Bowling Green, Miami, Ohio U, Xavier, Cincinnati and Wright State were others that had shown interest in the 24th-ranked sophomore in the state.

“Ohio State was the top school on my list,” Price confirmed. “Once they offered I thought why wait any longer when this is where I want to be. It was a deal breaker.”

Most of the colleges reaching out acknowledged seeing Price perform at the Future Games helped spur interest.

“The Kentucky assistant coach mentioned seeing me at the Future Games and Ball State and Wright State talked about it,” Price related. “A lot talked about witnessing me there. That was a great experience to play against top-level talent and represent my state.

“One of the things I could take from that was what it takes to be a Division I baseball player. A lot of players committed after that. It gave me a grasp as to what I needed to do to get to that point.”

Now Price has reached the level of a D-I college commit.
