Napoleon vs Defiance - 5/17/19

By: Dylan Hefflinger
PBR Ohio Editor in Chief / NW Scout

Landon Willeman RHP / 3B / Napoleon, OH / 2020

Report: 6-0, 165-pound athletic right-handed pitcher. Willeman shows a lot of pitchability. The righty has a slow tempo in delivery while creating some shoulder tilt during his stride. He works at a good pace and pitches with confidence. Delivery is fluid and easy. Quickness to his arm while coming out of a ¾ slot. Two-way prospect with a quick bat at the plate and a very good glove in the infield. Younger brother of Kent State standout and MLB draftee Zach Willeman.

Pitch Repertoire:
Fastball:
85-88 mph. The fastball was electric today, maintaining velo throughout the game.

Curveball: 72-75 mph. The curve has the look of a nice put-away pitch that Willeman seems to have the confidence to throw in any count. The 11/5 curveball has depth with good spin rate.

Changeup: 74-77 mph. Threw a few changeups in this outing, with the arm speed similar to his fastball. The changeup showed some fade.

Game Performance: 6.2 IP, 4 H, 3 R, 5 BB, 11 K | 2-4, 2 R, 1 RBI

Edon vs Hicksville - 5/16/19

By: Dylan Hefflinger
PBR Ohio Editor in Chief / NW Scout

Parker Thiel SS / RHP / Hicksville, OH / 2019

Report: 6-1, 180-pound two-way prospect who's committed to Adrian. Showed well on the mound today, with the velo sitting in the low-to-mid-80s. Flashed a good curveball along with the fastball. Toolsy prospect who runs well, has an above average arm at shortstop and shows a confident approach at the plate. Line drive swinger with gap to gap ability. The Bulldogs are getting a good one here.

Pitch Repertoire:
Fastball:
81-84, touching 85 mph.

Curveball: 66-68 mph. 12/6 break. Good depth and sharpness.

Game Performance: 7 IP, 4 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 6 BB, 15 K

Fairview vs Rossford - 5/15/19

By: Dylan Hefflinger
PBR Ohio Editor in Chief / NW Scout

Caleb Frank C / RHP / Fairview, OH / 2021

Report: 6-2, 165-pounnd C/RHP. Started for the Apaches today. Gets downhill well while using a long arm, coming from a 3/4 slot. The umpire had a small strikezone, leading to Frank walking six and throwing more pitches than he needed to. Good looking two-way prospect that we will keep an eye on.

Pitch Repertoire:
Fastball:
79-83 mph. Gets downhill well with the fastball.

Curveball: 60-63 mph. 11/5 break. Gradual depth.

Curveball: 70-71 mph. Rarely thrown on the day.

Game Performance: 4 IP, 3 H, 5 R, 4 ER, 6 BB, 3 K | 0-2, 1 R

Lincolnview vs Paulding - 5/14/19

By: Dylan Hefflinger
PBR Ohio Editor in Chief / NW Scout

Collin Overholt C / RHP / Lincolnview, OH / 2021

Report: 5-9, 150-pound two-way prospect. On the mound, he came in relief for the Lancers, pounding the zone. Good feel for all three pitches. Loose arm. With added strength and incorporating his lower half more, the velo should continue to rise. Also a switch-hitting catcher who played SS on the day with their normal shortstop starting on the hill. Saw him from the right side on the day and the swing looked good. Line drive approach. Quick through the ball with the barrel staying through the zone well. Good looking two-way prospect.

Pitch Repertoire:
Fastball:
82-86, touching 88 mph. Velo has made a nice jump since seeing him earlier in the spring (where there was cold weather). The fastball jumped on the hitters well, with some arm-side run.

Curveball: 63-69 mph. Good depth while coming in with a 11/5 shape. Was his go to pitch on the day, showing the ability to throw in all counts.

Changeup: 72-73 mph. Thrown with similar armspeed as his fastball. Some arm-side run.

Game Performance: 4.2 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 1 BB, 7 K | 2-3, 2 1B, 1 R, 2 BB

Jaden Youtsey 3B / SS / Lincolnview, OH / 2019

Report: The 6-1, 190-pound Tiffin commit impressed with the bat. Two-way prospect, with the fastball reported at 83-87 this spring. Today he manned third base while batting second in the lineup. Absolutely mashed today. Simple approach at the plate, showing both strength and bat speed in his swing. Showed pull side tendencies vs a slower pitcher on the hill. Good get for Tiffin.

Game Performance: 3-4, 2 1B, HR, 2 R, 3 RBIs

Massillon Perry vs Green - 5/14/19

By: Carter Franklin
PBR Ohio Intern

Noah Kandel RHP / 1B / Perry, OH / 2019

Report: Tiffin University commit, Noah Kandel, started on the mound for the Panthers and he delivered when they needed him most. He threw 6 innings, allowing 4 hits, 1 earned run, and notched 7 strikeouts. His fastball was sitting 86-88 and topped out at 89. He effectively used his curveball sitting 69-71 to keep hitters off balance. In the top of the 7th inning, Perry was trailing 3-2; Kandel stepped up to the plate and delivered for his team with a grand slam that put the Panthers ahead 6-3 going into the bottom of the 7th. Perry would go on to beat Green with a score of 6-4. Kandel had a day at the plate, going 4 for 4.
