Columbus Grove vs Continental - 5/11/19

By: Dylan Hefflinger
PBR Ohio Editor in Chief / NW Scout

Brayden Dockery SS / 2B / Continental, OH / 2020

Report: 5-4, 145-pound athletic frame. Right-handed hitter that shows a balanced stance that loads well leading to a shorter, compact swing with long extension after contact. Didn't have his best day at the plate, but the swing looks good. Defensively, Dockery is smooth at short and has the arm to stay at short at the next level. Good hands and quick transfer for the SS.

Lex Boedicker SS / 3B / Bath, OH / 2021

Report: 6-0, 187-pound LHH shortstop has an advanced feel at the plate. Nice, level path through the zone. Generates impressive pop with a lower effort swing. Used all parts of the field on the day. College level hit tool.

Game Performance: 1-3, 1 R, 1 HBP

Findlay vs Clay - 5/8/19

By: Jordan Chiero
PBR Ohio Director of Scouting

Patrick Dillon RHP / 3B / Findlay, OH / 2020

Report: Dillon got the start for the Trojans and offers size/velocity that will continue to put colleges coaches in the stands. Stands 6-foot-3 with a filled out, physical frame at 215-pounds and ran the fastball up to 87 mph while sitting 83-85 mph. The rest of his repertoire on the mound shows flashes, but still is coming together. Breaking ball was sharp at times and he showed the ability to command both offerings. However, there were also times were command was an issue and he leaned heavily on the fastball. Tossed 53% strikes out of 90 pitches total in outing. If it all comes together he offers some of the more upside on the hill left on the board in that class. Also it should be noted there is some pop in the bat and at the right level he could be a two-way option. Went 3-for-5 at the plate.

Defiance vs Archbold - 5/7/19

By: Dylan Hefflinger
PBR Ohio Editor in Chief / NW Scout

Simeon Sweeney SS / RHP / Defiance, OH / 2021

Report: 5-8, 140-pound shortstop. Defensively, fluid actions with mechanically sound feet through fielding sequence. Glove is a well above average tool, flashing the ability to make plays on the move. Good arm across the diamond. Middle type skill set. At the plate, is a switch-hitter who is a natural RHH but to me is more impressive from the left side. Toe tap as timing mechanism. Short to the ball while using all parts of the field.  Should see much more juice as physical maturation takes its course. Impressive prospect who we will keep an eye on over the next few years.

Game Performance: 1-2, 1B

Archbold vs Liberty Center - 5/6/19

By: Dylan Hefflinger
PBR Ohio Editor in Chief / NW Scout

Rigo Ramos LHP / 1B / Archbold, OH / 2019

Report: 6-5, 175-pound southpaw. Projectable arm with athletic frame. Long limbed with funky/deceptive delivery. High 3/4 arm slot. A crossfire guy that creates tough angles for hitters with his length and slot. BGSU commit

Pitch Repertoire:
Fastball:
83-85 mph, touching 86 mph. Works downhill with regular cut action. The pitch gets on top of hitters better than the velo suggests.

Curveball: 72-74 mph. The breaking ball, while working off the fastball was an outstanding combination. The breaker is a sharp, slurvish type offering that he has good feel for.

Game Performance: 6 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 11 K

Walsh Jesuit vs St. Ignatius - 5/6/19

By: Jordan Chiero
PBR Ohio Director of Scouting

Nate Stahl 3B / RHP / Walsh Jesuit, OH / 2019

Report: Can’t have much more of a complete day than the Indiana signee did on this day. Stahl got the run out on the mound where he showed electric stuff, warranting the pro scouts in the stands that were there to see him. Fastball sat in the 90-92, with multiple 93s and touched 94 mph, while showing the ability to hold the 90-92 mph his entire start. Tossed both the breaking ball and the changeup in the zone regular with both offerings showing potential to be above average at the next level. To go along with his CG, 9 strikeout performance on the bump Stahl also added a no doubt home run to left-center field and doubled down the left field line. Look for him to be a two-way prospect once he gets to Bloomington.

Granville vs Lakewood - 5/6/19

By: Thomas Eidens
PBR Ohio Intern

Tyler Johnston LHP / 1B / Granville, OH / 2020

Report: 6-foot-4, 225 pound built athletic frame shows plus strength in arms as well in his lower half. Johnston is a top arm in his class for a reason as he shows a low-80s fastball with a tight spin 12/6 curveball that shows a ton of movement. Throws straight over the top with fluent consistent  mechanics. Carries a poise on the mound and stays within himself showing he is better than anyone that comes up to the plate. Fastball comes in straight anywhere from 79-82 mph. Curveball came in around 69-70 displays 12/6 movement with tight spin. Works straight down hill with his delivery with a fast pace tempo keeping the hitters off balance. Had a very impressive outing against a rival opponent throwing 5.1 innings with 3 ER on 3 hits and 5 strikeouts.
