PBR Spotlight Game: #27 Aurora vs Perry

PERRY ??? In a Chagrin Valley conference game the Aurora Greenmen traveled to Perry to take on the Perry Pirates. Thanks to dominating pitching performance by A.J. Kimes and a multi-hit game by Matt Carpenter, Andrew Weber and Ben Stawicki the Greenmen came out on top by the score of 6-0.

The Aurora offense wasted no time getting on the scoreboard.

Senior shortstop and Ohio State commit Matt Carpenter crushed the first pitch of the game for a double to deep right field. Two pitches later sophomore right fielder Ben Stawicki hit a double of his own to knock home Carpenter. Senior second basemen and Virginia commit Andrew Weber (pictured right) hit the first pitch he saw for a single to right to score Stawicki to put the Greenmen up 2-0. Aurora would never look back from here.

The Greenmen would score single runs in the fifth and sixth innings before scoring two in the seventh to put the game out of reach for good. Carpenter (pictured right), Weber and Stawicki would finish the day combining for six hits, five runs and four runs batted in.

Sophomore center fielder Jonathan Blue, senior left fielder Devin Bradley and senior first baseman Josh Andexler all had RBIs of their own.

The six runs were more than enough for Aurora starting pitcher A.J. Kimes.

The Perry offense had no answer for the junior left-hander as he set the Pirates down in order in four of the seven innings. The Pirate offense had just three singles on the night. Kimes (pictured right) allowed one free pass while striking out six.

The three Perry singles were recorded by M.J. Reed, Ryan Kahoun and Tom Somogyi

With the win the Aurora Greenmen improved to 9-3 and return to action on Tuesday as they host Perry. With the loss Perry falls to 11-5 on the year.
